Actually the set didn't suck...it was out first time doing it and the setup was wrong...before we got there they had wired the monitors to each of the individual mixers...so mike could never hear my tracks on his monitor...even though they were playing out to the crowd.
Sounds confusing i know...but it's not that complicated...we simply needed all the monitors to be coming from the same mixer...the master mixer that the other one is plugged into.

I don't know how your week is going so far...but if it's anything like mine, then you've been eagerly anticipating some vinyl to ease the stress....no more pain....here's the musical novocain.

[DRUM & BASS]

D.Ecco & Sabotage - A Better Tomorrow EP on Frequency.
After conquering North America with their own Terra:format imprint, Denver natives D.Ecco & Sabotage lend the UK a hand with this eagerly anticipated double-pack. Who else but legendary Andy C would pick up these guys, for his Frequency label. 'House Music VIP' is obviously the standout tune as it's been nearly a year in the waiting...and it turns into fucking HOUSE in the middle. But don't sleep on the remaining dancfloor killers: 'Only 16', 'Staring At The Sun' and 'Last Night'.

Break & Squire - The Filth/Rooted on DNAudio.
Ok, I know you guys have no idea who these guys are, and I suppose that dropping the name Silent Witness won't mean much either, but I'm gonna give it a shot. These guys are set to blow up. I myself have been opening sets with Break's collosal 'No More Sounds' for some time now. Basically this guy can flex any style he wants, whenever he wants...whether it's the more break-driven rollers for East Side, or full on tech shit for No U-Turn he kills it every time. Think about it, Nico (No U Turn), A-Sides (East Side) and DJ Ron (DNAudio) can't be wrong! Oh by the way, did I mention KLUTE has already signed 4 more tunes from this crew to his wicked Commercial Suicide imprint? Don't sleep.

Boylan - Everybody/Underground on Square One.
Right now you're going "who the FUCK is Boylan?", it's ok, I don't know him either...but i DO know Square One...and so do you, that's right it's all coming back to you now eh? Bad Company's label...yeah. They don't sign crappy tunes...so why don't you just accept their good judgement and give this SICK bassline a try?

Gridlok - Heatwave/The Ripper on Violence.
Wow. I haven't even had a chance to absorb the power of this tune. Heatwave has been causing a serious commotion over at Blue Dog thanks to Stabba rinsing the fuck out of it on CD. But even HE's gotta grab this on vinyl...you know why? Cuz he supports the artists he loves you know what i'm sayin'? Don't settle for the MP3 people...own a piece of HISTORY.

Stakka - Heavy Load EP: Part 1 on Cargo.
The only reason Heatwave didn't get 'tune of the week' status is because of this little monster. If you haven't heard me dropping this tune over the past 2 months, maybe you've heard me REWINDING it. No shit, I haven't gotten this good a response from a large group of people since I stopped slicking back my hair...and that was pretty fucking good. 'Hit n Run' from Stakka & Gridlok is nothing short of an anthem, and if you don't own it you suck. Stakka & Nu Balance drop 'Knuckles' on the flip.

Militia & Concord Dawn - Steam/The Railroad on Militia.
As if Stakka, K-Tee, Nu Balance & Friction aren't enough! Add a heavy dose of Concord Dawn and you get pure chaos. The flip really does it for me though 'The Railroad' is absolutely stunning with it's rolling breaks and pulsating bass, only a fool could fuck up this tune in the mix....buy on sight.

DJ SS - S Files Part 1 on Formation.
The first in what will probably be a 2 million part album. SS finally gives us the goods, his massive squelchy anthem 'Stress Related' is here and so is S' House, while hard to pronounce, it definetly shows some dexterity on the somewhat formulaic Formation sound.

D.Kay - It's On The Way/Space Quest on Soul:r.
That's right...it sold out.

[BREAKS]

Klaus 'Heavyweight' Hill - Northern Lights/Inside Mind on Mob.

DJ Fixx - Cocked n Locked/Freakin Out on Bottom End.

Unknown - Nobody Listens To Techno/Can You Feel It on Superbreaks.

DJ Quest & The Break Fastaz ft. Ken Mac - System Overload/Ken Mac & The Break Fastaz - This Way on Cyberfunk.

Various - Sound Off on Fuel.
The original that started it all...featuring:
DJ Tokyo - Soul Oddity (Tipper's Troll Mix)
Cold Fusion Mafia - Nystagmus
Tipper - Donut (Radioactive Man's Pull-up Mix)
S.I. Futures - Eurostar (Tipper's Mix)

Once again....

We're officially starting off our monthly night @ O Patro Vys this Saturday and if you haven't been by yet, the club has a really a nice, intimate feel. The night features myself (Corey K) and Soundshaper playing a diverse set of Breaks as well as Drum & Bass...but the real twist is the 4 Turntable setup used along with CD players to create something we feel is really distinctive.

Some words we thought up to describe the styles of music we play are: Eclectic, Minimal, Dubby, Moody and Emotional.....so basically we have no idea how to explain what we do, we just know it's different.

So here it is, Shake & Break, happening the first Saturday of every month starting now...

Last week was kind of a monster...so we're taking it easy this time 'round....kinda

[DRUM & BASS]

Bulletproof - Cascade/What U Need on Random.
New label popping up out of New Zealand, primarily releasing Bulletproof tunes. They've already got something like 10 singles lined up, and here is the first: hard tech-y shit like only Bulletproof can do. Very solid.

DJ Red - Move/Man Bites Dog on Renegade.
The one and only DJ Red returns to the TOV family with a liquidy funk roller...and nice hard edge to it! Red shows he's not lost it even though it's been a year since we heard something from him or his Stealth imprint. Soft yet hard.

Loxy & Ink - Straight Up Menace/Dutty Rock on Renegade Hardware.
These boys are known for one very specific sound, and that's what they bring. Straight up old school hardcore, sped up into a frenzy of lethal Dylan-esque pounding dancfloor killers.

Drumsound & Bassline Smith - Ooh Baby/What You Gone Do Now on Worldwide Audio.
Another week, another bomb record from the Technique crew. Clown-step on side A of the highest order, while the flip makes it super funky. Instant noise-maker.

Tali - Blazin' (Shy FX & T Power RMX)/Gonna Catch Ya on Full Cycle.
Don't sleep on the first big vocal tune of the year! Shy FX turns this radio hit into a dancefloor hit...seriously this one's gonna put her over the top. Music Video already climbin' the UK charts, keep your eyes peeled for the album dropping shortly. Also, the flip is pretty hot.

D.Kay & Rawfull - Be There 4 U Remixes on Freak.
We ran out of these pretty quickly (again) so here you go kids...features the Dylan & Robyn Chaos RMX as well as the awesome Concord Dawn RMX.

Dumonde - Human Remixes Part 3 on Bulletproof.
The biggest trance 'n bass record ever sold out at lightning speed last week...so I got us a few more copies. ill.skillz take a trance anthem and somehow make it even more intense...must be heard to be believed.

[BREAKS]

Scam - Killer/So Good on Deepcut.

Plump DJs - Creepshow/Weighed Down on Finger Lickin'.

LP - While You Were Gone/Ben & Lex Mix on Functional Breaks.

Chris Carter - Xing/Udon on Botchit Breaks.

Karfty Skillz - Insane Bangers! on White.
Features: It's Ya Booty, Superstar, Music Sounds Fatter With U, Insane Banger.

Ok i think that's it, peace.

last shipment of the week...i promise....

[DRUM & BASS]

Sonic & Silver - On The Waterfront/Gridlok - Magnetic on Science Fiction.
The Accidental Heroes finally drop some new collaborative work on us...and once again, it's disco-flavoured funk. Flip it over for a big surprise, L.A.'s Gridlok comes thick and heavy with 'Magnetic' reminding us why he's getting signed on every UK label as well as stateside.

Kaos, Karl K + Jae Kennedy - Vice/Anthenaeum on Habit.
New labels are popping up all over the place, and with good reason! There's so much good material being produced worldwide, new outlets need to be created....enter Habit Recordings. These 3 cats are part of that "good material" bunch, after working 'longside the likes of Dieselboy and signing tunes to his Human imprint as well as DJ Lee's Atlas Recordings, Philly's finest drop these 2 bombs on the dancfloor. Step back because it sounds like these guys went back in time and stole Ed Rush & Optical's mojo.

Rob F + Impulse - Neurotoxin/Fallout on Shadow Law.
What did I tell you? More new labels! Atalanta's own Mayhem launches his own Shadow Law Recordings with what will be some of Rob F's last work as he has stoppped producing. For those of you who remember the good old days of Synthetix, check out this classy tech duo touch down one last time.

Kiko + Submerged - Beyond Repair/Accela + Plejik - Mental Collapse on Ohm Resistance.
Aren't you just loving all these North American labels getting massive global exposure? More DC action on their 15th release and you guessed it, it's hard as nails. Keep your eyes on these guys.

Various - Spy Technologies 2: Battlefield LP on DSCI4.
Oy Vey! This was supposed to come out in parts, like the last LP, but with tunes like these, they just couldn't wait:
A. Trace - Mutant Closure Pt.2 (D.Kay RMX)
B. SKC & Chris Su - Black Out (VIP)
C. Chris Su & Safair - The Borg
D. Chris Su - The Bouncer
E. SKC - Skank
F. SKC - Subtribe
G. SKC & Longman - Battlefield
H. Fresh & Trace - Warehouse Lick
I. Mindscape - Detected
J. Paul B - Solar Unreal
K. SKC - G Funk
L. Fierce & Optical - Weapon
'nuff said.

[RAGGA JUNGLE]

Shabba Ranks & Machael Rose - Shine Eye Gal on White.
For those of you who remember this little gem from back in the day...it's finally been repressed. Stricly for the headz.

Marvelous Cain - The Hitman (DJ Hype RMX)/Everyday on R-IQ.
More repress madness on a ragga-tip. The Hitman still gets 'em grabbin' the net every time!

That's it....I promise....

Strictly locals, and big big ragga tings a gwan....

[RAGGA JUNGLE]

Jacky Murda & RCola - Chopstick 004.
The next in the very hot hot hot series is here...featuring the vocal talents of the Original Tuffist on the a-side with 'Wicked Babylon' and it's backed with 'Up In Da Place' featuring the one and only Xanadu. This one is going to be big...and DNA is the only place in Montreal you can get it.

Jacky Murdah & RCola - Choptick 005.
Back2Back releases from our Montreal/New York crew. Jack and Chris come wit 'Come Gi We It' featuring the lyrical stylings of Lion Man and flip it with another exclusive dub featuring Survival Crew's finest: Bass Nacho.

Krinjah - Send You My Love RMX/Sizzla + Chronicle RMX on King Kong Sound.
Finally we get another taste of Montreal's original rude-bwoy! This one being the second release for King Kong Sound...the first is still a highly sought-after collectors piece....keeping with the original concept this record is completely black in a black sleeve so you never see it coming, but when it hits the speakers....everyone knows it. Support you're local jungle dj's, BUT THESE CHOONS!

Records records records....we got 'em.

[DRUM & BASS]

Freeland - Supernatural Thing Remixed on Marine Parade.
Big big drum & bass remixes of 'Supernatural Thing' from Adam Freeland's new album 'Now & Them'. The one you want is the Krust & Die remix, AKA Kamanchi...big choon. The Bristol crew speed shit up and make it bounce like they used to.

Dumonde - Human Remixes Part 3 on Bulletproof.
Now don't get mixed up, there are a few records floating around at the moment that claim to be "trancey"...this is the real-deal-trance-in-your-pants pinnacle of trance 'n bass. Ill.skillz do the damage as only they know how, taking vinyl #3 of this trance anthem and whipping it into a frenzy of big-room rave madness.

D.Kay - It's On The Way/Space Quest on Soul:r.
We've been waiting for this one for a while now and I gotta say, it was worth it. D.Kay once again turns all heads for this, the tune of the week. Big vibe on this one, absolutely untouchable and a real pleasure to mix...boys and girls alike will dance...i promise.

Nautilus - Blueberry/Passport (Klute RMX) on Soundtrax.
What can I say? It's klute...it's melodic, it's spacey...it's.....dope.

[BREAKS]

Freeland - Now & Them LP on Marine Parade.
The whole friggin' album.

Freeland - Supernatural Thing on Marine Parade.
Contains the Adam & The Evils Mix, Album Version and Stereotyp Mix.

Simply Jeff & B-Side - Funk Deluxe on Phonomental.
Contains Original & Elite Force Mixes.

Soto - Hootenanny/True feat. Becki on Botchit Breaks.

Soto - Mokey (Backdraft RMX)/Backdraft - Manic (Soto RMX) on Botchit Breaks.

Baobinga - Stepwise/Potroast on Plastic Raygun.

Mr.On VS Jungle Brothers - Breathe, Don't Stop on Positiva.
Includes the Original Version, Plus remixes by Milk & Sugar and Ali B.

Influenza - Sublunary/Clone on Pure Phunk.
Part of the 2Wars & A Revolution family.

Due to sheer stupidity, everything was late this week. Sorry for the delay...

[DRUM & BASS]

Future Prophecies - Overdrive EP on Moving Shadow.
We had this in stock last week for about 30 seconds before it flew off the shelves. The standout tune here is 'Plastic Dreams' but that shouldn't take away from the rest of this wikked hard double-pack.

Impulse & Submerged - Corrupt Souls/Trapped on Subtitles.
Don't get confused now, but this pair are now calling themselves Corrupt Souls, after this tune they made. So when you see the Corrupt Souls EP on Moving Shadow in a few weeks, you'll know what they're talking about...and you'll also be able to say you got the tune that started it all.

Child Support - London Zoo/Starwberry Jam on MASH.
Hospital sub-label MASH keeps pushing into the new year with another hot jump-up-throw-back-track from the Social Security crew. This one grabs the famous 'Bambataa' bongos and freshens things up with a fat bassline and choice hip hop samples throughout...check it.

Skitz feat. Dynamite MC + MC GQ - Make Noise Remixes on Emcee.
There's only one thing better then jump-up in your face d&b, and that's jump-up in your face d&b with vocals! If the Clipz RMX doesn't get the crowd rocking then pack up your shit and go home.

Thick Dick - Insatiable (Matrix & Danny J RMX).
Another HOT bootleg remix from the man they call Matrix. Trademark drums and bass from this master of movers...keeping the dope female vocal without getting annoying and dropping a fat bassline real early makes this one a head-turner...i dare you not to nod your head to this.

Total Science - White House/Picture Perfect on Advanced.
The boys are back in town! Finally some new rollin' material from TS...White House has been on dub for some time now and is just the beginning of what's to come from CIA and Advanced. Whatch this space.

Noisia/Stakka & UFO! - Wasteland/Set Trippin' on Payload.
Newcomer Noisia brings 'Wasteland' to Stakka's new Payload sub-label...and 'longside fellow newcomers Milo & Prolix, it just oozes tech. Flip for the tune I've been rocking: Set Trippin has that wicked "west coast killa, east coast killa" all through the intro, and you know what? I just love mixing it.

Exile & Temper D/Isotone - Where's the bass?/Genestealer on Tribe.
Damn this record is hard. Temper D is a name you should keep your eyes peeled for. With new new shit coming from a whole bunch of labels including G2, youk now what to expect.

Fission - Oracle/Halo on Transparent.
This is an old one from Friction & Nu Balance's label. Fission is badass and this tune really shows off his production skills...i've got to recommend the flipside cuz it sounds exactly likie Kemal's 'Plan B'.

Shimon & Andy C - Bodyrock/Orient Express on RAM.
Repress action!

Till next week, chao.
