Doc : It depends on ALOT of things.. like if you expect your VJ to bring the projector and the surface to project on. if you expect them to set it up properly or if you wanted to do that ..

Think about it, it can't really be something cheap because the VJ has to sit/stand in front of there screen for like 10 hours straight. A Dj play for 2 hours but the VJ's job isn't over..

Generally, a VJ should get about 2-300$ im assuming.. But i haven't the slightest clue.. depends on the VJ.

For your events Ryan, your best bet would be with MikiRam.. :)

Homing seems to be the most persoanl of them all (or from what i have seen at least). His sets are always modified on the fly and he even syncs his stuff with the mixer via Midi controler or something like that, making every kickbass count. When team'd up with Dj Omni, the show giving is a pure delight.

Mikiram is probably the friendliest i've delt with, meeting everyone's VJ needs. She might be a little late on the set-up, but once installed, she is pro.

I've never seen Amp play, but lots of people tell me it looks alot like WinAMP's Visual's.

Faust seems to be the new name appearing often these days and i'm looking forward to checking her out at a party soon.

There are many more visual jockeys out there too.. :)

umm, why in hell would i want to scratch anything over my psytrance?? its such a horrible sound !!! Scratching kills any melody a track might have and unless by scratch you mean like looping a vocal from a track a few times in a row, i really do not see the purpose.. if the track would sound good with an anoying hight-pitched sound, the artist would have included it himself !!

I think the real problem here is that people are mixing up styles of psytrance. its like saying HOUSE music sucks.. But deep house can almost sound like progressive and electro-house is almost like progressive electro, when all people really mean to say is that vocal house sucks..

With psytrance, its difficult because there are alot of subgenres.. and its hard to compare groups like Infected Mushroom with groups like NEUROMOTOR (example).

Alot of psy producers release stuff that should not be even in the psytrance category, such as DarkPsy (much like hostone described as Skreetchy as if you recorded that time when you beatup a bat !!!

basically, since there are so many new producers whom release on crappy labels, people who don't know the style assume that psytrance is everything that's around 142-150 BPM with a rolling bassline.. but lets not forget that if there is no melody, where is the TRANCE in psytrance?

and yeah, most psytrance does suck.. if we take into account that only a handful of labels release music worth listening too !!
