holy shit prick, I'm not a lyricist.
listening to your shit can make a person sick.
You should put a warning on that shit.
And just in case, you also want to play with my clit..
I hope you have better skill for that then what you rhyme with.
So you can write a four line reply,
geez I'm proud as I let out a sigh--
you can try to overide me
but you'll never succeed cuz your shit is dry.

Why are you convinced?

2. If revenue is not the idea, I don't see the need to coin it a "dance-a-thon", honestly. It's just a regular rave/party. Nothing groundbreaking I'm afraid. You may just be labeling it wrong, I dunno.

I think I may have labeled it wrong. I chose dance-a-thon quickly to write out the post. Ideally, I would like it to be an event where people could share their passion, in this case ,dancing, which could include showing moves and styl,e and/or choreographies.

3. Yes I care about the scene and its people. No, make that CARED cause it has gone to waste after I've witnessed it bloom, live and wither into a very slow self-destructive death, the equivalent of having 5 high partygoers stepping and kicking on it if I follow the flower meta(mphetamine)phor. So yes, I suppose I am sensitive about making it worse and not just exploiting the name as a publicity stunt ( not saying it's your goal either ).

I like the electronic scene, in general. However, I would like to amplify the more constructive elements of it. Years and years of listening to club kind-of-loud music and by the time we are forty we will have a hearing deficit. Frankly, I find that unnattractive. I'm a little tired right now and can't afford to answer any more in-depthly. I don't feel that I've answered you sufficently as I would like. So I will have to continue another time.

I appreciate your comments and will like I said answer more in-depthly. Just wanted to let you know.

4. I agree that trance and/or well dancing in general does give you a different perspective on a lot of things but allow me to say this is a very personal experience, one you can even have at home in your livingroom. That you want to share this feeling with a lot of people, I wholeheartingly agree. But does it justify actively throwing a party ? A lot of people most certainly did for decades now, especially back in a time that did not understand the need for such gatherings. Others did and failed miserably at that despite having the purest of intentions. What do you do when you built a party from the ground up and barely anyone shows up ? Yes, I've seen it happen way too often. And no, publicity, PRing or anything else was not to blame.

Now that raves have gotten popular and are widespread, venues have been built based on this very humble principle of yours and many many outlets exists for just that very purpose. And trust me, party-throwing is not even remotely fun.

That you would like to throw a small loft party, I'd say god speed. But anything bigger than that would be an endeavor.

Well again, my own 2¢.

Well, the only thing I can think of and it' wasn't all that stupid. Was the time when I was on LSD with a friend when I was 16. We were walking down a narrow street, her ahead of me and she kept forgetting that I was there. So she kept turning around startled only to find me her friend walking behind her.

wanna try and test me

hold your breath and meditate on nothing
I guarantee you'll get an answer
Something like a spreading cancer
So while you are watching your fate
I've got a beretta and just want a taste
of your screaming lungs to my face
as I wave good bye and put a bullet in your eye.

"It's goal would not need to be to inform outsiders. It would be just give a certain edge to the scene. I mean dancing and playing music for a "good cause". It's focus would be more on the dancing. "

The above paragraph was not about media coverage. It was about the purpose of my proposed event. Please look more closely and you will see.

"I was looking up dance/dancing and rave, trance, techno on the web and there was hardly any media on rave/techno/house/trance dancing. I think the dance scene vis a vis rave music is incredible and I think there ought to be more focus on it. "

This is SOME of the research findings I found. I was merely elucidating that the rave dance scene has not been fleshed out over the web. There are many people who are interested in it. However, on the web the coverage is minimal. Furthermore, the above paragraph contains a statement of purpose as well.

"Well, I'm not even the one who brought the coverage thing first of all. Second of all, coverage could be a good thing"

It is true that I am not the one who found coverage to be an issue. someone else brought the argument up and since I am not one to just dismiss what people say as unimportant I commented on it, trying to see it from that person's angle and now I am getting bombed for it. Shi---tt--

"But the minute you have a party wether the media is invited or it's just the local hoodlums, one can get coverage.

Coverage can be a good thing. Mass media coverage I think i am alsways sceptical about. Since they tend to add their biases. "

this is called vacillation and it is typically not the hallmark of a sound argument.

I was not vaccilating. Sometimes, not often, I do but not this time around. I would admit it if I recognized as I have before in the past. The first quote in the section above involves the definition of the word coverage. Again, I think you have taken the quote out of the whole context.

The second quote above is a clarification or was supposed to be of the type of "bad media coverage" , coverage that tends to be "negative". The kind that many people are sick of.

I think you are mistaken about me being indifferent and just jumping from one idea to the next as if I do not know what I am talking about. Make no mistake, I am not here to pretend I know it all cuz I don't. As for the above quotes, I do not feel that I have contradicted myself, and I think if you read the contexts closer or question me as you have been doing it may help clarify what I am saying. I am not the best writer and when I am in a rush, I tend to leave things out or try and simplify for time's sake.

you also seem to have this passive-aggressive attitude going on at times, which can be seen here:

"Yeah, I dig you. That's why I figure that anyone who resists my ideas to focus on the dancing are DJ's.

LOl. Maybe, you should write for the national enquirer. Again, you took the quote out of context. OR maybe it was a display of my passive aggressivety. Howver, I do believe I was joking and my joke was a spring off of what another user said. But you didn't bother to quote him.

Kill all dj's... let the dancers have the room.

Just kidding , of course or did you think I was that stupid or naive.

Peace."

I had the courtesy to write just kidding, which is more than some people give me. Plus, I am just playing with the thread, with the comments people put out at me. I'd be surprised to find out that you never do this or that you find any actually harm in playing with ideas in good fun. If you felt offended however. I'm sorry, it was not my intention.

and here:

There's nothing like praise to brighten my day. I much prefer the sun, however.

Keep shining.. maybe one day you'll burn out.
Peace, love and happiness....
I'm just playing with you like a clitoris. "

I thought the above was pretty funny. It was a joke. Again, if I hurt your feelings (neoform?), I'm sorry, it was not intended. The above was not said in anger. Believe me. It was said in good fun. I try to keep it light and playful.

i suggest that if you can't carry on your end of an argument without throwing insults around at people who do not agree with you, then maybe you shouldnt make threads wherein you ask people what they think of your idea(s).

I was definately not trying to insult anyone. I agree with you in general. I'm sorry that that is what you thought I was doing. I was not trying to insult anyone and if anyone felt insulted. I invite them to speak with me and I offer my apologies as I too do not like to feel insulted. But it was not my intention.

and if i can ask you to humour me for a minute here, i'd like to know how you would have all this trance music played at your dance-a-thon if all dj's were to be killed? would you cue up some tracks on fucking winamp?

There you go. that was funny. good idea.

Let's get to the bottom of this. Coverage can be good. Coverage can be bad. Coverage can be inevitable. Some people apparently think that the less media coverage the rave scene gets the better. I am not sure I agree necessarily.
The only thing left I have to say about coverage is that it is not necessarily bad, even for the rave scene. It's the quality of coverage that ought to be in question.
Where did I downplay media coverage? I said that mass media often carries with it alot of bias. I do want to thoroughly answer you. Clarify that which is not clarified. So le tme know.

That's a very good point. And I am all for decreasing feeling's of self-consciousness. I mean I enjoy dancing in a spirit of fun, not competition. People ought to be able to express themselves whole-heartedly. But what about people who would like to have a career as a dancer?

Don't get me wrong but I think the whole " rave " theme here is used to taint the event in an air of " coolness " since, well, raves are so IN right now with teenagers.

Raves were never meant be themes to dance-a-thons, special nights in bars and huge stadium-events but somehow, it got horribly out of hand and instead of toning it down, EVERYONE figured " well, what the f**k it's screwed now, let's milk it for all it's got ".

Yeah I may be a tad protective but for countless years, people have capitalized on a movement which was originally designed as a small-scale rebellion against commercialism, spotlights and popularity yet, became EXACTLY that because of lack of care and maturity by the ones who used to swear by PLUR and originality a while ago. Just goes to show, you're better off not sharing your toys sometimes.

Now, I'm not saying you are trying to make it even worse there Cinderella Soul but you'll excuse me if I see this as sort of make a mockery of raves, which it has been ridiculized enough as it is I think. I mean, raves were not designed for fundraisings.

What's next ? Rave aerobics ? Rave For Life ( as part of the new Fit For Life program ) ? Rave music for tottlers ? Rave outfits at Wal-Mart ? Rave for Tsunamis ? Rave Puffs cereal ( free glowstick inside every box ) ?

You get the point. :)

I appreciate your comments. I think you care about the scene- the people. I could be wrong. But whatever.
The last thing I want to do is capitalize the rave scene. I agree it's been capitalized on enough by people who acted like politicians and other seedy characters.

My goal is not to get the most people involved or else I would pick Mc mario type music, I suppose.

As a dancer, I have found alot of promise in trance music specifically. I think that trance music and dancing to it deserves exploration.
I know it might sound cheezy to say that trance music shows promise in my eyes. But what I mean is that through trance-dancing I have reached other states of consciousness.

I think that to achieve these altered states of consciousness trance music is ideal and it's this phenomenon I want to explore further.

Anyone who knows me, knows that I am here for justice and true justice is far from capitalism.

I know it's easy. But before you put me in a box along with the rest of the "juicers", please get to know me.

Because some people like me and many others value dancing as a transformative tool- A tool to express oneself with. The arts that benefit people in these ways need to be further explored and utilized. Dancing can be a fantastic tool and should have a place in montreal.

I hear what you are saying and maybe you're right. BUt I think in the rave scene, despite the apparent centrality of dancing, there is way more focus on the Dj's and promoters (those who have the means of production). A focus on the dancers would be less capitalist.

Thank you for your support and encouragement, wether it was intended or not. I liked your comment and I will surely keep you in mind.

I need to flesh out a few things, details. I have place where it could be held.

I am interested in meeting other dancers too. Dancing is one of my preffered arts to express myself in.
Please give me your email. I would like that alot.

Okay, well, I guess everyone is getting the wrong impression from Cinderella Soul, a rave type dance comp. sounds awesome, I dance a style called liquid which is seen in almost every rave in the little corners. I would enjoy meeting other dancers who enjoy electronic music as well. If this event ever happens sign me up!!! I'll even aid with promotion if its needed!

Get back to me Cinderella, I know a hand full of dancers that would love the idea as well!

dont get me wrong, i'm not saying that having a "rave" to raise money for a good cause is a bad idea. i think it's a great idea, i just dont see the benefit of media coverage, so to speak...

Well, I'm not even the one who brought the coverage thing first of all. Second of all, coverage could be a good thing. Dancing is an art and alot of people practice their hearts out. They seriously enjoy dancing.

My thing is that there's such a large focus in the rave scene on the dj's, promoters, etc.
But not the dancing or the dancers.

I think there is alot of hard working and passionate dancing souls out there who deserve to be able to show what they have learned.

People are always scared of "new" things.

I'm tired. Just got back from "put your tracks on" @ le chill. SOOOOOOO tired. have not slept. got to work... :)

It's okay that you didn't want or have an explanation. I think I sense a tinge of sarcasm from you or something, I could be wrong. I do care about what you think to a certain point.

But don't you love it when people try to discourage you? I'm not saying you discouraged me or that you tried to. Don't you love it when....

This morning I got home from the party put on by chilli boo productions called "Put your tracks on." I had a blast. For lack of better words, I danced and talked the night away.

I would like to know if anyone else on this site went.
