Well to be honest.. If I take the time to listen and actually comment Its usually because Im also willing to go the extra mile and help out. If you could see beyond yourself for just a second you might realise Im actually trying to help you. Its great that you and your girlfriend are "making fun" with your music.. but you are also asking for a promoter or an agent and visibility as per your first post. Im not trying to lowball you.. Im just being honest and unmerciful. Better to hear it here and sort it before you get too used to having doors slammed in your face, no?

Im not trying to be negaitve dude.. Im just saying before you stomp around with your huge ego.. make sure you got the skills to pay the bills. Besides.. I dont slam anyone gratuitously and if you could see above yourself youd also realise Im trying to help you.

DUDE.. WTF are you talking about.. I dont understand a word you just said.. If I understand correctly, your telling me you produce remixes using parts of your own material and parts of other peoples material. NOW.. I'm not talking about your arrangement skills, they seem fine.. Im talking about your MIX skills.. by mix I dont mean DJ mix, I mean how the sounds come together to form a track, volume levels eqing etc... yours are utterly insensitive and ultimately shit. Fantastic mastering cannot save a shit mix in any dimension. Im not trying to say Im better... Im just telling you that its clear your sound isnt anywhere close to the professional levels youre bragging about and its worth looking into on your end. If you can do better.. please feel to post something the Cirque du Soleil or any manager or promoter I know wouldnt even scrub his nuts with.

As far as your "update" is concerned, I still dont understand WTF your trying to say, but if I get the jist right, your trying to tell me your better than me because my rhythm is bad and fans dont dont like it. PLEASE TELL ME wtf you know about me or my production work before I invite you to kiss my gleaming white ass.

Man .. just looking at your profile...WOW, please tell me how you got all those bookings?!? Its F*2^ing obvious your word is worth its weight in GOLD, ten fold with all that accumulated experience.. DAMN man.. when I grow up.. I wanna be just like you...

man, even my girlfriend is cringing when I show her your music, dude.. learn how to take a crit... till then, try a breyers giant icecream cookie.. theyre amazing.

just listened to the stuff in your profile.. how bout hiring a sound engineer before looking for a manager or promoter... although I see the potential, you obviously have no mix skill, the frequencies arent cropped properly at all levels are all over the place and nothing really flows, to the point of sounding like its in the same damn track...oh wait, is that distortion I hear?.. heres a hint.. red means clipping... have fun. -K

Update » Br34th3 wrote on Mon Jul 16, 2007 @ 6:47pm
ok.. I just looked at the wav form.. If its mastered, your values are set wrong its distorting like theres no tomorrow, who ever did this should be fired.. A- for doing a very very bad job or B- for actually mastering a mix this bad without saying anything to you about it. If you did it yourself.. take a class, read a book, hire someone who will actually do your track justice.
If however its not mastered, your mix is fucked beyond recognition, talk to some more artists, hire an engineer, take a class, read a book cuz theres no way shit like this would ever cut it with the big boys... *deaf and blind people dont count.

nothings cool about what you mentioned...what's cool is that you mentioned it.

My question is, what are you doing about it...other than posting on a Transformers thread on [ Rave.ca ]

Well for starters .. I didn't go see Transformers and have sequentially decided to boycott it on many levels I had previously considered participating in as I am a pretty diehard fan. I did attempt to confront the manager of the theatre but seeing as it was a busy night he seemed rather (perhaps conveiniently) occupied on the phone, so Im hoping the letter I've composed will have atleast some impact. I've never felt so strongly about something as to react this way in the past, so other than that I must admit I am at a loss beyond this point.

And for the record.. no they cant "bust" you but they did ask me to delete the images with "terrorist reconnaissance" as the reason, and the old man was sent on his way promptly with a warning for the same reasons. I did question the guard after his intervention (this was at PVM) and even he seemed to feel a bit of remorse but explained that he was simply following protocol.

Regardless, I would like to know if this is a general publicity campaign or just a serious lack of judgement on behalf of the Paramount Cinema brass... as I mentioned before there was alot of promo surrounding the paintball arena combined with the transformers propaganda.

1 Did you solo it with the kick and bass... or with everything else still wayy too loud ;).
2 Thats also why I said chek the wav for almost inaudible spikes that boost the db reading. use Peak mr. Mhac-attak. If there are any.. either change the snare out or drop the volume on the spike. If there are none and the wav looks clean...change it or put it louder I guess... but most of my snares at -17*ish can be heard like a ton of bricks over the kick and bass and the rest of the mix.

bass *could* be lower still (really depends on the sound... percussions -7?!?>>wayy too loud. snare -17*ish. Check the samples WAV for strange spikes that just boost the db reading for nothing.. then re adjust. synths shouldnt need to be much more than -11*ish.

probably cuz everything else in your mix is too loud... start with your kick at -6 db and go from there.

Don't try to get the sound levels the same as pro tracks when mixing a tune... Pro tracks (the ones you hear on cds at home etc...) are mastered.. this mastering process eq's, compresses and subsequently limits and normalises the final mixdown of the track. The MASTERING process requires headroom (space before hitting 0db) to accomplish sucessfully and effectivly.

Zed.. Mp3??...no thats not why it looks like that... it would look almost the same. A mix isnt supposed to clip without the l2. if it clips without it.. your levels are too loud or your sounds are badly produced..

Scotty, I agree.... AFTER MASTERING. however. before mastering.. a track is not supposed to have ZERO headroom with an L2 to stop it from clipping ... please re-read this carefully if there is still any confusion. last time im gonna say it.

were not talking mastering here.. were talking simple mixdown... of course a record is limited.. its part of the mastering process... a mix shouldnt clip without the l2 on it to begin with. .. zed.. turn off the l2 and post your mixdown. ...no cheating ;)

Update » Br34th3 wrote on Sun Jul 1, 2007 @ 3:12pm
L2 at -5db threshold and -0.3 out ceiling and you're fine! .. this formula only works with specific mix situations.. for a homogenic mixdown between tracks the threshold ammount should be based on a track standard ie. the kick volume after peak elimination and normalisation. otherwise.. your kinda flying blind.

is this mix straight from ableton?... theres something pretty fucked about the entire wave form if it is. if its mastered, its horrible mastering.. if its just a simple mixdown straight from the sequencer.. its a pretty horrible mix.. theres no headroom, wich leads me to think that your initial mix levels are way off and are using a limiter to compensate.

I agree that its over done.. but when used lightly can bring alot of homogeinety to a tune.. kinda like mixing a bit of the sky and leaf colour into the water of a scenic painting.. just rounds things out and tightens things up nicely. *discalimer* - depending on the style of course.

If I remember correctly, I got it off of torrent spy of all places. ..setting it up is a bit tough the first time aswell.. it took me a while to get used to .. what I have now is a project folder with just that set up in it.. I'll crank out a few hundred samples in a stunningly short period of time and then basically use'em as a home made sample pack for my tracks.
