well its the base that everything else rides on I'll give you that.. but once your beats are lined up.. thats where the real talent shines through with what you do to make the tracks blend. My goal is always to make it sound like it was produced that way, so no frequency stacking/masking no offkey overlapping creating cuts and frequency sweeps to introduce other elements of the sound. I do mix a form of trance so my mission is to keep the dancefloor in the zone no matter what. I dont really see why this wouldnt be a mission for any dj regardless of the genre. Personally I dont think it should ever be too flagrant that the dj is mixing and the better ones you dont really even notice unless you know the tracks very well.

Dude.. even the last time you took it to the streets you managed to fuck it up and came out looking like a dork. All I can say is keep it up m8, your on a roll! Besides, my offer was little more oldschool, a bit like the breakin' battles between street gangs in Ol' New Jack where talent was paramount. Could have been fun. Anyways.. you'll be a TOY in my books till you put your talent where your mouth is.

Alright here it is.. the guy runs around badmouthing other musical genres saying some take no talent to mix.. I think bigmouth should give psytrance a shot seeing as how its his prime target. Ill supply him with 10 tracks properly chosen for their mixability... all the dirty work will be done for him xcept mixing the shit together in any way he sees fit and just so he doesnt feel like hes doing all the work and to square things up, I'll offer to do a drum'n'bitch mix in the same manner. Heres your chance tuff guy, make a statement!

who you callin' fossil waxamaphone boy... I sold mine years ago with good reason... 1 theres nothing available on vinyl I need that I cant find on cd plus its archaic technology that makes music sound like shit as far as im concerned... if your mixing through your little application you cant even consider the tone of analog cuz your dropping a digital mp3 anyway. Besides, the medium doesnt matter its just for beatmatching mainly.. theres nothing that can be done on a tech 12's mixwise that can't be done on a pair of cdj 800's in good hands except maybe the power off trick...OooOooo.. and even that theres walkarounds with a 100% pitch slider. Either way you said psy djs dont need talent.. put your money where your mouth is and accept the challenge badboy.

to mix any genre well.. you must have talent. and to be honest to date.. psy is one of the most chalenging Ive come across.. considering the heavy melodies, perc lines, pads, sample use, variant basslines, the key of the tune as well as the frequency ranges overall, for a mix to flow you must consider these factors at all times... your above statement is naive and ignorant. For most people here its a simple as lining up kick drums and crossfading, which really doesnt fly in my books or the books of anyone who can consider themselves a pro... the only reason conceivable you can make such a statement is because youve never spoken to any real psy dj or seen one mix properly let alone being able to come close to pretending to comprehend whats going through his head in the meantime. T.O.Y.

My concern with your event is that you are promoting something rather commercially that you clearly know nothing about. This is a community, much like any ethnical minority in Montreal and the world for that matter. There are morals here and more importanty values that dont necessarily need to be taken out of context in such a public manner ignorantly. For years many of us have fought with heart and soul to build a solid reputation and image for the community that is sustainable in the current system and although I always appeciate new things, Im not sure your fully aware of the fragile nature of the situation. After reading all your posts in various forums I consider your event premature aswell as grand act of ignorance on your behalf. I will not be attending, nor will I advocate any one to attend for that matter, and all I can hope is that no negative sideeffects come of it. -Kalan
