that's one possibility yes. But the other more important logical fact that you're missing is that if someone doesn't post, there's absolutely no reason they should be banned. Therefor, you're preventing thread creators from banning for no reason. There could even be a system to contest said banning which could result in the banner being penalized.

So I say we hire a full time [ rave.ca ] moderator office. We can offshore it to China and get it real cheap!

No, but it would improve upon the current system. I mean, it's unreasonable to ban someone if they haven't posted right? A very easy condition could code wide assure that rule be upheld. If you are going to have a banning system and banning use regulations, it makes sense to use technology to give the feature some robustness.

I had a blast! Sound system was sick and deco was really cool...
I heard there were some troubles but the only thing that affected me was the sound delay to the DJ booth, making it slightly harder to mix. The sound system should always be where the DJs are imo.
(basically the DJs had to mix entirely in our headphones because there was a full 1 second delay between what was playing in our headphones and the room. So if I messed up at all, that's my excuse :P )
Also, maybe someone could explain what happened after Hexa-5's set, music went dead for a full few minutes and then there was chaos for the next 15...
As a promoter, sometimes you need to find your DJ, make sure they know they are playing and make sure they start on time. I've had to tell DJs when they were supposed to start and stop in the past... in any case, all I am saying is that you can't always trust the people you hire 100%. That's why it's kinda boring to be a promoter, you need to be sober enough to make sure things go flawlessly until the end. But really a very cool party, a huge step forward for Aztek Soul! Congrats guys :)

If you guys want to avoid abuse, make it illegal to ban someone if they haven't posted yet.
Instead of banning, why not warn abusive users and deal out penalties like... 'can't start new thread for one week'...

I also hate brown nosers.. I don't think that war is purely brought on by a single individual... there are some documentaries that show wars behind chimps and monkeys in the jungle. They will actually kill each other and eat each other to gain more territory for their clan.
Individual animals constantly fight for the right to mate and to the best females. Fish live off eating each other. Violence is very much in nature... humans if anything are the exception for the most part as we have laws against violence.

But I see your point and don't really disagree. I mean, I wish the world were more peaceful, but I find that there are too many violent situations in contexts that don't merit it and too little violence in the contexts that require it...

So Mike, sounds like you got things all figured out have ya?

I suggest you take your own theories with a grain of salt. ;-)

all we have is our perception.. even the words we use aren't precisely matched in defintion due to our own personal context

Take the following with a grain of salt because I don't think many of you are mentally able to take what I have to say in an objective enough manner to not hate me after reading it.

I wasn't quoting anything... Living beings are not violence free, violence and hatred help define ourselves and our way of life more than you might think.
Think about the anger we feel when women are oppressed. Think about the anger we feel when an unjust system is in control. That anger can absolutely not be pushed aside without some form of violence, unless the person feeling the anger is somehow convinced that his perspective is wrong, which is sad imo.

Truth is, no one's perspective is wrong. We are human, we are capable of great and of despicable things; and the only thing separating the two is perspective. One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter.
What I hate are people who don't understand that, life will be tough for them.

In any case, a single human life is totally meaningless. Only life in general is worth preserving, and the fact is that it's impossible to preserve an individual life, but so many people lie to themselves, tell themselves that they are important.
If you truly believe in something, you damn well better be ready to physically fight for it, otherwise you obviously don't feel that strongly about it. There's no such thing as peaceful victory. Compromise is no victory, by definition compromise means that both parties are giving in.

Besides, conflict breeds change, and change is adaptation. So without conflict, we'd all be long gone by now.
Imagine the very first single celled organism, if he never had any competition, that's all life would still be.

Humans seriously need to get over our superiority complex, we're no better or worse than a mosquito, a dog or a tin can.

In any case, I am not condoning war. Nato is in Afghanistan for many reasons but one is drug trade and the enormous sums of money it provides for extremists. If our world leaders were smart, they would stop the war on drugs. Hell everything should be legal, because when something is legal, it can be controlled and moderated.
For an extreme example, imagine if child porn was legal... you'd be able to track the people who partake, then when some kid gets harmed, you'd already have a full list of possible offenders. But now it's illegal so you have to start from scratch, fact is no one is ever willing to admit being a pedophile, so finding these people is fricking hard. If anyone ever harms a child, they deserve to be murdered. And if money could be changed to not hold so much meaningless value, sexual abuse wouldn't be a problem, the only reason it is is because families in the third world stand to gain so much more money from just taking off their clothes than by actually being useful in society. How fucked is that?
If we weren't so stuck up about nudity, sex, drugs, all taboos, we wouldn't have these problems to begin with!
Fuck human rights or anti-death penalty people, there ARE scum in this world and they should be wiped the fuck off our planet. Who's decision would that be? Everyone's and no one's at the same time, because no one is more right or wrong than anyone else. There's no such thing! Yes, there ARE truths, but given the indisputable fact that everyone does exactly what they think is best, you can't judge anyone for anything. We 'feel' because of evolution, we do what we do because we think it will help us survive, nothing more.
I say an 'eye for an eye' given circumstance is more than fair. Anyone who knowingly causes sufficient direct harm to anyone else should get the gullotine. Problem solved once and forall. No more billions of dollars keeping prisons open...
fucking prisoners are treated better than 10% of society! that ain't right.

Take another extreme example, legalize heroin or crack. You'd have heroin shops where people could buy it safely, where they could impose limits on consumption. And finally weak ass fools would kill themselves off instead of them ALL being pushed underground, threatening our society from beneath; breaking into our cars and homes for pennies to keep their habbit.
The only law should be 'do no harm'. Everything else is biased perversion of control.
There's no such thing as a human right anyway, we're all at the mercy as everyone else. Laws are only threats and don't apply for those who are never caught. Murder is illegal but internationaly it's legal and called 'war'. wtf?!
Hypocrites!! all of us!

say what you will. My only strong belief is not to believe in anything too strongly, I am ultra open minded and don't listen to conservative fools who want to restrict the actions of others, it's none of their frikin business.

And HEY, the human race is going to be a million year fad, eventually we WILL exhaust the natural resources of our planet, and we WILL die off. Even if we do colonize the solar system and beyond, we won't be the same then. Everyone dies, death is NOT a tragedy. Human life is NOT precious, only life in general is, and there's nothing we can do to stop our own eventual demise.

So stop and smell the rose, do what makes you feel best and try not to harm anyone else along your way. And if you want the world to change, change yourself.
The future is pure transparency... as resources shrivel up. Some day there will be 0 privacy and as extreme as that may sound. It will certainly solve a hell of a lot of problems.
Of course a lot of other things will have to change radically too. Worldwide salary caps, renewable living laws, corporate responsbility will actually be enforced, fuck a corporation being it's own entity, that's so unrealistic it's frigthening!!!

ok my rant is over. I take it all back.

RAPE or harm to a minor or to ANYONE should be just as illegal. but 'seeing' a person naked, no matter the age... that's illegal!?

When the fuck are these old 'group think' retards going to realize that all languages are doomed to be replaced by whatever means of communication is precise and easy enough for everyone to learn. Keep the old useless junk at the smithsonian!!

It's not language that matters but communication! Sheeesh

and any culture worried about losing their language is admitting that their language is inferior. We gotta stop protecting the weak for no good reason. Culture is more than grammar rules.

Don't get me wrong, I have NOTHING against french (other than the fact that I was legally forced to learn it). And to think that I might have something against francophones would be even more wrong. My gf is completely 100% quebecois and I love her with all my dick... uh...heart.

people are starving to death in this world... and we are enacting laws about the LANGUAGE OF VIDEO GAMES!

I understand the trade off, but personally I believe that making good music and mixing it properly takes a very long time. Which is why I always smoke weed when I produce, it lets me listen to the same fucking beat over and over and over without getting bored. I used to find that when I would produce with headphones, I would get very discouraged...

besides, sound systems in clubs and at parties are never perfect, they hide a LOT of faults. SO
when you just want to play your stuff in a club, go for something that will sound more like the club, IE the studio monitors
if you are releasing an album, then you will def want to check your mix in headphones as well.

But with headphones, you won't 'feel' the bass and you'll be getting a mix picture of your track that is really almost too clean... most people will never hear the details in your track that YOU will hear with headphones, so it's almost overkill. And if producing in headphones means fatiguing faster and not being able to put enough time into your track, then headphones are definitely a negative thing.
Another thing is stereo image, you get a very different stereo image with headphones compared with studio monitors, the physical distance from the monitors DOES make a difference and it's a difference that will matter because again, the majority of people will be hearing your beats on a big sound system (mono most of the time btw)

But I think we can all agree that priority number one is training your ears and priority number two is listening to your final mix on as many systems all possible to get a better idea of what it will sound like to every one other than you.

also, never produce with a subwoofer.

I would personnaly not go for headphones, mostly because they fatigue the ears and REALLY make your mistakes stand out, if you aren't producing at a total professional level yet, you might give up thinking your music sounds like total shit...
monitors won't do that...
