Equity? How are things equal when someone sneaks into an event that costs money while everyone else pays? How are you sharing if you don't bring something the organization can use to do all this in the first place? How are you caring when you disobey a simple request to 'pay your way'? And last but not least, solidarity is about community and no community would stand for someone breaking the simple basic rules of any and every large gathering.

It's absolutely necessary to enforce laws or rules that protect the organization so that it can continue to exist, for example, no glass bottles protects you from cutting yourself, no individual fires protects the forest, you and helps bring people together more by providing communal fires.

And my last point, you my friend are posting on an ad supported site using your non-free computer and non-free access to the internet. Don't be a hypocrite and pretend that they don't need your money to make this amazing event happen. Again, it's not the individual case of someone getting in for free that they are worried about, but when it rains, it pours, and that could ruin the festival and it's future for everyone. So in the spirit of keeping Eclipse as the biggest and best outdoor festival in Quebec, I totally support the PROPER MANAGEMENT that Tech Safari implements. If you don't like it, throw your own festival :)

I am not affiliated with tech safari but, 125$ is a steal of a deal for 4 days of camping alone. As a promoter, I totally understand and applaud Tech Safari's efforts to keep the site clean, safe and protected. There are always people who try to get a free ride, sadly money talks and it's 100% necessary that everyone contributes, otherwise there would not be events like this.

Just like in society, if you didn't pay taxes, we wouldn't have clean water, streets to drive on, police, fireman... the economy in general. Every penny counts and I think that in general, stealing something worth 100$+ merits police intervention. It's not that they hate you or that 100$ is the end of the world, but if you get away with the small things, chances are you'll move on to bigger and more important crimes/scams. Keeping everyone honest with friendly force(it's not like they're gonna beat you up, common!) is totally a price worth paying for living and partying safe and sustainably.

just my two cents...

the idea behind copyrights and patents is solid, basically it keeps people's interest in the right place as if someone couldn't be sure their idea would actually benefit them, they might not produce anything at all, however, I realize now that all this does is reward greed... :\

I agree.. frequencies need to be separated properly to have the cleanest sound. Problem with 4 or more identical speakers is that they are all made for the same thing, so you're either gonna be under utilizing the system by cutting frequencies out of some, or just getting the exact same sound from all of them, and as said, one size fits all is just not reality.
