I never said your events were bad, I really didn't and I don't think it either. To me, psy parties have more substance to them, but hey I'm a psy guy so that isn't so strange...
Maybe it's just forward thinking Dave, but you got your own speakers and lights and shit, so you can afford to let people in for free, I'm sure you spend under 2000$ by far, and I don't know what Jesse spent...
but I generally spend close to 4000$ on my events, and I have this personal vendetta against people who 'quête' and always look for a free ride...
As I also, said, it's not my policy to charge full price until closing, just my opinion that people who do things 'right' are a lot more enjoyable to party with.

One of my long standing beliefs is that by charging, say, 20$ at the door, you weed out 99% of the people who don't really actually want to be there, which makes for a better vibe and therefore a much better party. Letting someone in who doesn't want to pay isn't doing anyone any favors.

And now I have an official complaint about ravedave events! stop making people think raves are free after 3:30AM, that's when my best DJs are still playing.

no, when you miss 9/10 of an event, it's normal not to go at all... Getting something that costs money for free is by no means normal... I bet you went to Bal En Blanc a few hours before closing and got in at half price? yeah right...

and really I don't think it's fair to compare a ravedave party to a psy party... i mean, there's an absolutely gaping quality and budget difference, not to mention very different vibe...
You get what you pay for, remember that next time you try to get something for free...
But hey I'd love to know where you other promoters get your free 300+ capacity venues, killers sound systems, immersive deco, professional flyers, selection of drinks, good DJs, etc...

I've had people show up at my parties after about 4am expecting to get in for free or at a discount. This behavior is ridiculous, the party doesn't cost any less than it did at 11pm and if you want something for nothing, why do you go somewhere that has a cover?

I can't speak for Hexa-5 productions but I personally would have charged full door price.
-Do you go to Habs games during the third period and demand to get in half price or even free?
-Do you go to movies 20 minutes before the end and expect to pay less for your ticket?
-Do you go to a restaurant and order a half eaten chicken breast with a half side of used salad for half price?

So why would you go to a rave when it's almost over and expect to pay less, you're just causing more of a headache for the promoter and not even offering to fully reimburse them for their extra trouble of having to tell you you're an idiot for showing up so late and expecting special treatment.

this isn't my policy, just my opinion...
I think people vastly underestimate what these parties cost an too often make fools of themselves for trying to haggle their way in...
