All in all, you've all made good points and parts of what everyone said is true...

we learn from our experiences, good and bad, but we learn from each other and each other's experiences too. Sucks that the only time we get passionate about something enough to talk about it is when we get mad.

something Kalan told me makes a lot of sense now. Feeling strongly about anything is really important, if we don't argue with each other and sometimes with ourselves, we lose the meaning of it all,... or something :P

as many parties seem to fail and as many promoters seem to lose money, there are still parties every weekend, and that alone is a victory for the scene. my advice to anyone with a passion is never give up.

ive seen dj's like delta 9 mix, in fact he doesnt mix at all, he cuts tracks with movie samples or something, so we agree he doesnt mix,but this guys has mixed in front of more people in one time, that all of the people you will bring to see you in your entire life.

a dj, is someone who moves the crowd, not only beatmatch choonz, if your about djs that beatmatch but look like a statue behind the tables, fine for you, but when you go see a show, do you expect to see the poster of a band with the cd playing?

its about giving a show. which is something you didnt quite understand as i can see...

and you totally blasted melo about her djing, while she has a lot more experience than you, can mix alot more than you of what i heard, ad before blasting people, get your thing straight...

*Problem with fast music is that if you're not on drugs, you won't have fun because there's no where you can go to escape the incessant pounding. It's not 'chill' enough to be there for a long time sober. You can't have a normal sober conversation at a party like that either because the music is too loud.*

ok, now your a tota idiot, you just loose all credibility by saying that, this was the worst thing to say, i can say like you,* psy suck, its all r2d2 samples and some wierd indian and space sound, with a cheap-ass kick and bubbly bassline* you like that huh, no...

and i wouldnt say this seriously because im not an elitist, i love hardcore, but i love every genre of music, you cant say a music is bad by its speed, it just doesnt make sense, and you just look like an ass...

and whats about helping people when a dj wants to switch timeslots with you, and you whine no no no, im too cool, when all we wanted is I to give tamala help, wich is something you didnt do, and blocked us to do it with your *im a diva* attitude...

that what i call supporting fellow djs... right ...

i had respect for you before, because i didnt know you, but you prove you were an ass in just 2 days.

its because of fuckin elitist like you that scenes dont mix themselves anymore, but i dont worry, i know you clearly aimed your post at tamala, but she brought more people tha you at the party, like i did too, and all the other djs, because all the time i was there, you were the dj with the less people dancing.

BOOOM BITCH

next time think before acting stupid, and dont say your here to help people, your acting like the U.S.A...

listen Tamala, posting another post under someone else's account doesn't mean you are twice as right...
But congratulations on proving that you are a total retard by not even remotely understanding what I was talking about.
Lucky for me, you're not worth the time it would take me to dumb it down enough for you to comprehend. This thread WASN'T about you, and most definitely not about Melo for whom I still have respect.

You're right but it sucks. I honestly enjoy almost all those styles of music, with the exception of happy hardcore which gets on my nerves after only 5-7minutes. I personally love going to parties that offer variety as their main attraction, but then I only rave once every two months because staying up all night taking drugs is frickin' suicide in the long term.

Problem with fast music is that if you're not on drugs, you won't have fun because there's no where you can go to escape the incessant pounding. It's not 'chill' enough to be there for a long time sober. You can't have a normal sober conversation at a party like that either because the music is too loud. I think one thing recent raves are seriously missing is a chill room, if people were as comfortable at a rave as they were at a bar, then they might go every weekend, maybe even both nights. But that's not what raves are about.... *sigh*

Update » AlienZeD wrote on Tue Sep 4, 2007 @ 3:56pm
all to say there's no magic if you go so often, and if you don't go often, you're not helping the scene, so it's my opinion that the scene is killing itself by means of overpopulation, raves are just starving to death...

maybe there are too many parties too, you can't go out and take drugs every weekend and yet there are usually 2-3 parties every weekend, there's just not a big enough market for it. Then you have to take into account that without 20 plus pill poping adolescents, it's not really a rave anyway. over saturation perhaps?

I'm so confused sometimes to see talentless or simply amateur DJ's fill a room and then a good DJ go on and the room clears.

What is wrong with our scene where the ONLY reason parties make it or don't is because of the friends of the Talent. Is it that we ALL just suck or is it that people like each other more than they like the scene itself?

honestly, that's exactly what I am doing. I'm not the kind of person that lies to my friends and tells them what they want to hear. If I didn't sincerely want Melo to get better, I'd shut my mouth and not say anything about it.
BUT it turns out there was a problem with the tables, so it's my bad.
you have to understand that the last two times I heard her play, both times there were technical problems, so my impression of her skills is not what it should be. generally when someone trainwrecks, you don't say 'Good job', you say, 'nice try, practice more'

I really don't think I was dissing her, if I did, that's not what I intended, and I apologize. I can't be helpful if I don't say anything at all though...

Update » AlienZeD wrote on Tue Sep 4, 2007 @ 2:04pm
one thing that might help you understand me better is that I am very blunt. I don't feel the need to coat what I truly mean in sugar before saying it. take what I say how you want, I meant nothing more than to be critical in the hopes of helping someone push themselves further...

mixing for a year wasn't enough for me, it took me almost two full years to mix a set without any major problems... and still I make mistakes (who doesn't?) but I don't trainwreck, I'd rather (and sometimes do) completely cut out a track awkwardly than have two beats going at different tempos...
point finale, I made my main critical point before hearing about the table troubles, so I was uninformed, I am NOT hatin' or trying to put anyone down.

for sure, you know, I mean no disrespect, it's hard to say something like that without sounding mean. Straight up though the other DJ's had no problem mixing with the vinyl, at least it didn't sound like it. You are right though, mixing psytrance IS easier, at least to me, since I tried mixing breakbeats once at home and gave up real quick due to sucking so hard. so i give you credit for that, and when you DO do a perfect set, you will surely be better than I.
all i'm saying is practice more! :) same goes to you tamala, I really liked your selection but mixing IS damned important, being primarily a raver, i can say that when the beats go off, so does the dancing, which is just annoying for the raver, especially when the tracks are soo good. So I don't mean to put anyone down, there's no use in that! i just don't want to pretend everything was perfect either, and obviously the turntables were messed, now I know.

MissBlyss: your set sounded flawless so if there really was an issue, great job!

all around great party imo

It is most definitely to live and I definitely want to avoid those poor areas. My interest would be in plateau, hochelaga, lower westmount and possibly verdun areas. Downtown is obviously desirable but unlikely to fit my budget.

I guess the first step is talking to a bank right?
