I think most of us are atheists, not because we don't believe in a higher purpose or in the indisputable magic that life is, but because we're raised in a society where there are many many conflicting ideologies, some saying 'you're not wrong, but we're right' and others saying 'we're right, aliens will come for us and clone us' and others saying 'eat Jesus' flesh, which is bread, and drink his blood, which gets you fucked if you drink enough' and others saying 'dude, my hands are HUGE!'

Ok i made that last one up, but the only difference between a bar and the catholic church is that booze are free and you have to wait in line; it's like a communist bar for God's sake... pun intended.

I think for the sole purpose of connecting Monitors to a computer, the m-audios are fine. All he needs 'em for is to have a better idea of what his music will sound like on bigger systems, you don't need anything superb for that. Besides, money is the real constraint here... so unless there's another 200$-/+ firewire sound card, I suggest the Firewire410...

well it wasn't for me exactly. I was recommending against it... I personally don't trust used items when wear and tear is a definitive issue. besides I was told by everyone when looking for monitors that paying under 1000$ was like trying to nail a nail into wood with a wooden spoon.

Actually,
He has a very extended vocabulary, you can tell when he's hungry or wants to play or thirsty, or is just being a little bitch. He talks to us too, changing the tone, length and format of his meow. He purrs like a pigeon and makes horse noises sometimes. Also I'm pretty sure he's an alien.

which is REALLY fun to yell as if we were running from monsters. (he chases me around the house sometimes)

this is silly, I already have a plan for saving the world, now let me work damn it!

If you MUST know, I'm going to start a business, become very profitable, buy land in South America and start my own society. Every member of the society will essentially be an employee, voting will be mandatory, keeping and performing your job will be mandatory. My haven will be self sustaining and eco friendly. Most habitats shall be underground, but only just below the surface. Your roof terrace will be the actual forest. There will be courts and police and laws but the laws shall not be written, instead they will be a common sense 'do no harm' idea, they will be judged by the case by a large select group like a jury. Serious criminals (murder, rape, willful destruction of property will be tortured and killed in public. There will be no cemetary, even bodies will be recycled. Patents, copyrights and other anti-progress measures will not exist.
Any crime that cannot properly be judged shall result in exile, that way no harm is done to the criminal but no harm shall be allowed to be done to anyone else by him.
Money will exist but won't be necessary for basic human needs. There will be no taxes and no one person will be allowed to horde money over a certain determined amount. Food, water and clothing will be purchased with a points system, insuring that no one person takes too much but still allowing people to choose what they want to eat and wear. Freedom of speech will be upheld, and physical violence will not be a crime. There will be no lawyers or ANY middle men of any kind.
Hospitals will exist but major surgery will be unavailable to anyone over 25. The age of consent will be 12, (but there must be consent a perhaps a 3 day waiting period for things like piercings, tattoos). There will be no weapons of any kind. The strongest and smartest shall be paid the most, while the weakest and dumbest shall probably be fed to the sharks and I equipped with lazers to patrol and protect my land.
There will be no brand names available within the country. People are free to purchase items from other countries but since money will be extremely limited, this will prove difficult.
There's a lot more, but it all has to be worked out and agreed upon by my partners. If you're already a millionaire and want to change the world in a legal and concrete way, join me.

Just a quick note for Sofia.... I quote:
"Is it religion that gave birth to this system of governance?"
The answer is a resounding Yes, America was founded by mercenaries of the catholic and protestant faith. Our continent was populated and taken over in the name of religion. And even now the government uses religion to garner support and to justify their actions. Is religion the real reason for these problems? no, but the void of common ignorance is filled with 'faith' and this faith allows people to look the other way when things are too complicated for them to understand. Religion is the biggest pusher of 'magic', of 'propaganda' of "it's not that you disagree, it's that you don't understand, stay out of our way and your soul will be saved".
MAN uses the completely BS power of religion to bend others to their will and on top of that, religion is the biggest scam of all time when it comes to the accumulation of money.
