The BEAUTY of the situation is that my part time job is that of stocking the drink fridge at a depanneur near my place, so anything I don't sell, I'll bring to the dep and sell it to my boss at cost... better YET, if I run out of something, I can drive to the dep during the night and pick up more!

It's not the password that slows things down per se, it's the encoding and decoding that results from choosing a more 'secure' method of connecting to your router. As little as the overhead is, it's still there, and it grows as the router is pushed to its bandwidth capacity...

btw adding a password would slow down your connection if it is encoding and decoding the signal to insure that any stray wireless signals cannot be intercepted and processed...
it shouldn't slow it down enough to notice though, unless you're maxing out the connection... in which case of course it's going to slow down
