Blown away by the sounds that were emerging from the after-hours in the city of Montreal. Luke decided to pursue the interest of buying vinyl simply as a hobby. After six months of collecting he started working at one of Montreal’s most well known record shop Tabou International DJ (a forefront of the dance scene here in Montreal that started selling house in 1982) As a fresh new face in the scene, he became one of their sellers in the house department and within time became a buyer for the store while continuing to sell and write endless reviews and write-ups for their new releases. After two and a half years of working at Tabou and indulging in his DJ hobby for three, he moved on to work for inbeatmusic.com an affiliate of Inbeat where he wrote the majority of reviews for a part of their website.
While also staying busy with his full time studies at University, it was in 2004 where he found his home in music. Younan Music: A digital label for a digital world started by friend and colleague Saeed Younan. Luke was proud to join on board with Saeed and help spread the sounds of YM, while working on several and different areas for the label and website. Working with Saeed also found him in Miami for the first time for the 20th anniversary of the Winter Music Conference held in South Beach giving him the first taste and feeling of what it is like to attend and be a part of an international event. With being a part of the label, he is definitely looking forward to what the future will bring him.
Furthermore, Luke is also best known for his popular online show Native Love with Luke Native. A Thursday afternoon tradition from 2 PM – 4 PM EST having already featured some of Montreal’s most respected House DJs along with the occasional International guest. Having just recently celebrated his 2-year anniversary of Native Love his show was also voted as an honorable mention for Best Local Radio show as voted by the readers of the Montreal Mirror newspaper. After being a part of a Toronto based website for his show he moved his show to Montreal based site Techno.fm where friends and fellow listeners can check out what he likes to call “deep, dirty, sleazy, groovy, funky, vocal with a touch of prog house.”
