In response to LynZyn's really detailed and in-depth journal about PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect)

(note: I am NOT going AGAINST LynZyn; in fact I support what she said 100%!)

If I may butt in and put in my 2 cents' worth, the concept of "PLUR" is but a thing of the past...

More and more as newer generations are populating the planet, older values such as "PLUR" are becoming more and more extinct. If that wasn't enough, the older generations are also jumping in on the wagon as they think it's their way of "staying young" and being "hip" or whatnot; by adopting today's "values" (i.e. the LACK of values & such), the older generations are falling into the same trappings of today's younger kids, who's idea of respect is shoot first and hide the corpse.

No offence but to me, Peace, Love, Unity, and especially Respect are nothing more but concepts from a past era; today's world, our modern society, functions principally by dissipating the idea of Unity, thus promoting individualism and selfishness, in order to sell more cellphones and wireless laptops.

Well the philosophy behind this idea is much deeper but I won't go into it; suffice it to say that the values which our parents taught us are not being taught to the younger generations.

Peace: There is no profit in peace the war mongers think but never say. There is no "challenge" in Peace today's humans think but never admit. Peace is unfortunatly a concept of the past. Tolerance is basically non-existant in today's world!

Love: Most people will think they "love" others but most of the time it's more like "lust", or the fake created "need" to aquire something, as a kind of property. Although "love" has survived for so long, like peace it seems to be a dying art form...

Unity: like the ideal of a community, it is a nice concept from the past. In today's world, the concept of community and unity are as alien to youth as audio 1/4" cassettes. In order for unity to be achieved, the needs of the many must reflect the true needs of a society.

Respect: Perhaps the most regretable loss of older values, the concept of respect still tries to survive in today's world, but it's modern meaning has been warped and twisted into a new deffinition which has little to no connection to the older value of "respect" from our forefathers. To quote a Klingon character in Star Trek "Respect must be EARNED, not given away".

I am NOT saying I gave up on the idea(s) of "PLUR"; rather that today's modern individualist capitalistic societies have warped the original meanings into new versions which will tear all ideas of unity within society, and allow for bigger profits to be generated by the internet and cell phone companies.
