Info: | UVA Audio / Video Performance Three physical performers are on stage with projectors acting as 'virtual spotlights' projecting onto them. The performance is an AV/DJ set with a musical style somewhere between traditional DJing and improvisation/composition. Performers cut tracks into small loops and create a seamless soundscape from those loops, playing from multiple virtual "decks," sometimes going through hundreds of tracks over a single set. UVA were formed in 2002 to create the visuals for Massive Attack's 100th Window world tour. Since that successful collaboration, they have brought their unusual combination of live production, art and software engineering to bear in fields as diverse as contemporary fashion (Hamish Morrow), installations (Kabarets's Prophecy, Trevor Jackson), pop promos (lighting consultanton Kylie Minogue's I Believe In You), televised events (MTV Europe Music Awards), visual for bands (Output Recordings, Basement Jaxx) and installation art (Trevor Jackson). They are currently working on U2's world tour and touring their own live show. [ www.uva.co.uk ] D-FUSE / SCANNER Light Turned Down Audio / Video performance Light Turned Down is a live interchange between artists charting a conversational movement of colour, musical fragments, texture and image. Following a singular pulse at a propelling 128 beats per minute, Scanner will wrap sound around the beat as D-Fuse projects images in response, creating a uniquely live experience, each responding to the other. Scanner's hypnotic score is beautifully visualized in an abstract world reduced to an incorporeal starbust created uing waves of traffic motion distorted and re-processed into a seamless fusion of graphics and live footage. Scanner + D-Fuse share a restless desire to discover the extraordinary in the ordinary, the colour in the darkness, the sound in the silence. [ www.dfuse.com ] / [ www.scannerdot.com ] ALI M. Servovalve oscillates betweenaudio abstractions, computer designed hallucinations, random research, cyberelectronic and minimalist design experimentations initiated by Gregory Pignot, the Sevovalve project was launched in 1996 and gradually evolved toward the territory of computer-assisted sonographc explorations. As of 1999, the proeject also took a live shape. In 2002, Gregory Pignot was joined by Alia Daval (ex DJ Sainte Alia) the result is le sixieme doigt, the second CD by Servovalve [ www.servovalve.org ] EPSILONLAB DVD Launch (Silence is Presence) Elektra will host the launch of the DVDE compilation SILENCE IS PRESENCE created by the Montreal label and netlabel EPSILONLAB and co-produced with German netlabel THINNER. Onscreen - images from the DVD reworked live by a mini VJ orchestra. On spreakers - an explosive dose of this acrobatic hypnotic groove which has typically marked events signed EPSILONLAB. The DVD compilation assembles some muscial artists from Montreal, some from Germany, and other from elsewhere in the world. The tracks were selected and mixed by the project's mastermind. Eloi Brunelle. A dub flavoured music, ambient, punchy, groovy, tech-house, sometimes hypnotic or entrancing... From a visual standpoint, a iunique concept was adhered to by all the VJ's associated to each track, namely the use of an actor/dancer who crosses all the clips, a specific colour and a series of keywords... In short, a DVD that delivers artistic rigour audio-visual pleasure and thrilling beats. [ www.epsilonlab.com ] |
