Info: | We at Sundaze have always been about the supporting the scene here in Ottawa, and really... what is "the scene" made of, if not the people in it? That's why we've opened up a day for those bedroom and basement DJ's who have been enthusiastically supporting Ottawa's scene through their love of music... now it's time they got a little something back. This is not a contest. The Dj's did not have to pay the promoters, they didn't have to get a bunch of friends to buy a minimum number of drinks. All they had to do is hand in a DJ demo that shows they are ready to make the move from the bedroom or basement into the clubs. And in my humble opinion, the intimate Sundaze "living room" environment is the perfect place to do it... a relaxed atmosphere full of friendly people, not to mention playing on the biggest little sound system in Ottawa. SEPTEMBER EDITION UP-N-COMERZ DJ'S: JIM DONNELLY TERRY BEVVAN IAN DURKIN aka Dj Nodi PHIL DOTY AO PHIL FAIRHEAD MISHA VOLOACA aka Misha That's the final list for September's Up-n-Comerz. Thanks to all who submitted mixes. I must say, there's a lot of future talent in Ottawa. Timeslots posted closer to the event. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Well, the September edition's line-up has pretty much well been determined, but that doesn't mean it's over if you aren't booked this month. There were so many great demo's rec'd that Sundaze is having another Up-n-Comerz in November. I'll be letting Dj's who submitted a mix know by the end of Labour Day long weekend if they are in November, or if they weren't quite what we were looking for. If you have a mix hosted on-line, you can quote "up-n-comerz" in the subject line of the e-mail you send to: ricklaplante@hotmail.com ... and leave details about where I can find your mix. As mentioned above, this is not a contest, there are no prizes, this is just an opportunity to get your name and your sound out there... but there is ONE condition: Demos must be HOUSE, TECHNO, TECH-HOUSE, PROGRESSIVE, or similar genres, please. Keep in mind it's a club crowd, and use your best judgement when programming your mix. :) - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Also joining the Up-n-Comerz is a Sundaze resident who is quickly gaining attention in the Ottawa EDM scene, and is still a bit of an Up-n-Comer himself. ;) His abilities behind the decks demonstrate he has the skills of someone who has been mixing records for years longer than he actually has: ABE VAN DAM (Sundaze, Transit) Abe can throw down the hard tribal beats like it's nobody's business. Lucky for us it IS Abe's business... and business is booming. Come and hear Abe spin, and you'll know why so many Dj's and dancers alike are watching what comes next for this talented Dj! - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Every Sunday | 6am - 3pm+ | 19+ w/ ID | $8 b4 7am/$10 after | MAVERICKS - 221 Rideau Street | ROAR |
