Info:On Saturday, June 25, 2005, Kapacity Entertainment proudly presents one of Hip-Hop’s greatest DJ/producers, Pete Rock.

Pete Rock first exploded onto the music scene in the late 80’s as a DJ on New York radio station, WBLS' "In Control with Marley Marl," which aired every Friday and Saturday night. With a solid fan base behind him, Pete decided he wanted to expand his musical talents, so in the early 90's Pete began producing.

In 1991, Pete hooked up with long time friend and rapper, CL Smooth. After the release of their EP, All Souled Out, and the Mecca/Creator 12", the duo unleashed the classic LP, Mecca & The Soul Brother. Quite a few of the songs on this album are very monumental, including the massive hit, They Reminisce Over You (T.R.O.Y.), Straighten It Out, Ghettos Of The Mind, and Lots Of Lovin, to name a few.

As the decade progressed, Pete became one of the best and most influential producers of the 1990s and was responsible for producing and remixing many hip-hop classics. Public Enemy, Run DMC, Nas, Common, EPMD, LL Cool J, and Naughty By Nature were just some of the artists he was working with at that time. Pete and CL also released their highly acclaimed 1994 sophomore album, The Main Ingredient.

After Pete and CL split, Pete continued to produce music and remain in the forefront as a DJ on the Future Flavas radio show on Hot 97 with Marley Marl. It was at this time Pete began to work on his solo career. In 1998 Pete released his solo debut album, Soul Survivor, which featured guest appearances from Raekwon, Inspectah Deck, Method Man, OC, Rob-O, Black Thought, CL Smooth, Kool G Rap and others.

Today, Pete Rock is regarded as an icon in Hip-Hop. He continues to produce both as a solo artist (PeteStrumentals, Soul Survivor 2), and for many of today’s best hip-hop artists. Pete is one of the world’s most sought after DJs due to his unrivaled live sets and radio shows and is eager to display his skills in the nation’s capital with an exclusive, live DJ set.
