Description: | A fusion of genres, a confrontation between electronic and analogue instrumentation, and sheer virtuosity are on display to round out the evening. MUTEK is proud to welcome the Viennese group Radian, whose creations are reputed to establish a unique atmosphere. Encouraging suspension and separation of sound, mixing experimentation and a solid dose of funk music tinged with rockabilly, Radian relies on the penchant for improvisation shared by its 3 members: an unrestrained bass, a particular fingering on drums, all accompanied by the uncanny synthetic sounds of Stefan Nemeth.
Just so you are convinced that Martin Brandlmayr is one of the most astute drummers of our time, MUTEK also proposes Kapital Band 1, one of his side projects. With normally avant-garde violoncellist Nicholas Bussmann on the computer, Brandlmayr generates a hybridised universe of folk and rock far beyond anything that might appear as a simplistic reference regarding the two genres. By way of introduction to this systematic blurring of musical lines: Polmo Polpo. A member of the Constellation record label, this artist produces an eloquent amalgamation of music influenced by dub but governed by post-rock parameters and amplified by a large orchestra. All the elements are gathered here to help create a pleasurable state of torpor! |
