Description: | An evening of categorically halcyonic music and ambience naturalistically evolving into a scene of esctatic jubilation by virtue of your company, conversation, and dance. L'Escalier is a beautiful spot... it is conveniently located on St. Catherine right near Berri, and it is dedicated to hosting artists who wish to express themselves with a respectful sincerity that few clubs would ever dare to match. Enjoy the bar, teas, juices, meals, vegan baked goods, couches, dance floor... Approx. times of performances: Lilah (Nomad Folk) - 21:30-22:20 Open Floor (bring your guitars, drums, flutes, spoons, washboards, CD's, selves...) - 22:20-23:30 Jay Bee (Psybientech) - 23:30-1:15 Matt Wood (Funktrip Progtech) - 1:15-3:00 |
Extras: | Lilah - [ www.myspace.com ] "I'm a genre-blender. I've been writing music since I was very small. I began to sing because of that, and later picked up nylon-stringed guitar and electric bass. I want to get my hands on: harp, cello, keyboard, sitar. I am a poi artist and fire dancer. I paint, do fimo and sculpey, design digital graphics, and sew clothing and jewelry. My bike is almost an extension of my body. I value compassion towards all life." Jay Bee - [ www.movethemasses.net ] "Many musical forms move my spirit, therefore I mix many musical forms with the intention of destroying distinctions and difference by embracing and moulding seemingly seperate cultural modes of expression into an organic whole through the mode of pushing what technology is available to me to its physical limits. For sets such as the one I will be playing/performing on this night, I carefully arrange tracks in Ableton Live, limiting myself at up to 10 tracks at once, of mostly classical, minimal, progressive, ambient, techno, house, psychedelic, trance, and my own original productions molded into a coherant whole. The intention is to communicate both immediate sonic pleasure as well as a strong sense of narrative throughout; I wish to share a musical journey that tells a story. Considerations throughout its construction are also given not only to the psychology of sound, like melodic progression, but also its pure physics as many techno artists are exploring this generation -- I intend for my sound to be a blending of the two, to affect both your body and soul.” Matt Wood - [ soundcloud.com ] "DJ, Composer, Audio Manipulator, Sound System Tech, and student of Electroacoustics, Matt Wood lives and breathes electronic music. First introduced to the experience of rhythm induced trance in the basement of his hometown's local record shop, Matt's tastes have grown from the brain melting all out psychedelia of Acid Techno to include the most wide ranging realms of electronic audio wizardry." |
