Description: | As part of the Vancouver Cultural Olympiad, MUTEK, the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) and CODE Live bring you a special event that connects two cities and communities at the opposite ends of Canada. Vancouver and Montreal will meet "face-to-face" over a real-time virtual network developed by the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) for a night of live jamming and cross-country encounters.
The night will begin with a site-specific performance of Germany's GROUPSHOW. Uniting electronic mastermind JAN JELINEK (aka Farben), drummer HANNO LEICHTMANN, and ANDREW PEKLER on effect-laden guitar, this rule-bending trio is based on live, collective improvisation and has recently released their first album, “The Martyrdom of Groupshow”, on Pole’s highly-reputed ˜scape label. This very unique, 3-hour set of sounds that defy musical boundaries and pre-arranged conceptions is definitely not to miss!
At 1am (10pm Vancouver time), an impressive roster of Canadian talent takes the stage. The beloved MODERN DEEP LEFT QUARTET take the spotlight in Vancouver, to jam live with musicians on stage in Montreal, namely JEDI ELECTRO and VINCENT LETELLIER, in what promises to be a very unique connection between two remote cities and many talented and dynamic musical masterminds. |
