Description: | ** FORWARD MUSIC ** Forward Music Montreal presents djs, mcs and producers from Montreal and abroad, playing what we like to call urban electronic music. This umbrella term encompasses dubstep, b-more, liquid funk, breaks, neurofunk, dancehall, reggae, mash-up, electro, grime, booty house, jungle, trip hop, breakcore, ghetto tech, big beat, jump-up, drum’n’bass, tech-step, liquid funk, garage, bassline house. Every Thursday at Club Passeport 2037 St-Denis. ************ THIS WEEK ************ * Construct Construct has been invading subwoofers and bass bins for 3 years now. A co-founder of the phenomenal BreakBeat Elite crew, Construct cut his teeth with all sorts of broken beats. A strong love of Jungle has developed and evolved into a passion and drive for Dubstep and all bass driven beats. As host of Broken Science radio on CKDU, Construct is always looking for new immerging styles of broken beats. Not one to stick only to one genre of music, Construct constantly blurs the lines between Breaks, Dubstep, Electro and Club Bangers for a high energy dance floor set or an aggressive Drum’n’Bass and Jungle throw down. ************************************ ************************************ *Lazerface ************************************ *Pinky38 Ivan D has been into music since he was born, thanks to his parents, loving violin teachers, who shared the great gift of music with him. He had a violin in his hands by the age of 3, and did not let it go until he turned 15, when he discovered his true passion: turntables. Ivan, also known as Pinky 38, has been a DJ in and around the Montreal club scene for the past 4 years. He does some serious scratching, and has a style of music that ranges from break beat and house to electro. He has had the opportunity to mix in clubs such as the SAT, Station C, Blizzarts, Blue Dog, Kunta Lounge, Cafeteria, Kola Note, Missy Bar, Bar Les Conneries, Soho Lounge, Luba Lounge, Lucifer, Le Cathédrale, Le Bain Public, and has also played at a number of warehouse parties. Pinky has been involved in many successful music festivals, such as W.E.M.F. 2005 in Ontario, and Evolution Radar One 7 in Quebec. He has played alongside great DJs such as Robb G, Jordan Dare, DJ Bliss, DJ melon, The Hardsteppers, DJ plush, and DJ iznogood, just to name a few. He has also featured on many radio stations such as CKUT 90.3 FM and Radio Communautaire Montréal. Currently, Pinky is a resident at the Planète Break nights that take place at Kunta Lounge. For more information, contact Pinky at info@pinky38.com, or check out local websites, like [ breakbeat.ca ] and [ mtldnb.com ] In 2005, Pinky was invited by the IDJ family to play at one of Montreals elite venues, the SAT, that hosted the Breakin da Jungle party. This party was a success, and breakbeats as a whole in Montreal, gained credibility. In 2004, Pinky encountered the Frogland Breakers, which with whom, Pinky was eager to work with. One year later, the Frogland Breakers and Pinky were responsible for one of the best breakbeat events that Montreal had to offer, Planète Break. The frenzy just grew around it and Montreal breaks heads just wanted more, so they gave it to them with top quality parties including, visuals, live scratching, mc s and special guest from all over Canada Like Robb G (T.O), Dj plush(O.T), Hardsteppers (M.T.L.), Dj Rainforce (Halifax) these were just a few great names we brought down to give these hungry Montrealers a little fix of break beat. In 2003, Pinky maintained residency at Blue Dog, tuesday nights, alongside Dj Arock and Dj Joey crisp.Playing breakbeats but a with a funky edge. That same year he was holding down another residencie at Lucifer which was more of a funky house outlook. This night took place on fridays alongside dj s Mr Frank and j-Fizz for about a year. ************************************ ************************************ *Dialect Straight outta the northern lands of Deux-Montagnes...Initially influenced by hip hop acts such as KRS One, Native Tongues, Gangstarr, Jeru tha damaja., He began to pursue a hip hop scratch dj status in 97. With the newer generation of "Shit-Hop" emerging from numerous hip hop labels, he became frustrated, fed up, and discontinued purchasing hip hop vinyls altogether.Still producing hip hop instrumentals, and working with local MC's, Dj Dialect was still unsatisfied with the current "scene" until his first visit to the afterhours. An easy convert to the Break Beat sound, Dialect blends the precision skills of turntablism with an ear for the underground electronic music community. Dialect can be heard spinnin' "erectro, real skool breaks, dirty disco, whore-house, fist funk and more. ************************************ ************************************ Residents Wally & Rhys Taylor kick the night off in style. Be sure to drop by early for the freshest dubs in the city. ************************************ |
