Forward, Buchererons Pre-Party: Na, Florian & Metab [ Static Link : iCal ]
City:Canada, Quebec, Montreal
Time:Thu Aug 12, 2010 @ 10:00pm till Fri Aug 13, 2010 @ 10:00pm
Description:Forward started in the summer of 2008 as platform to promote underground electronic music, filling the absence of a weekly rendez-vous for the alternative club scene. Originally thought out to be a hosting ground for drum’n’bass, jungle, breaks and dubstep, Forward grew and evolved into a night made to showcase a wide array of genres and scenes working with a variety of different crews and artists such as Loetech, Sixtoo, DZ, Da...tsik, Spor and Plastician, to name a few.

Dubstep remains a central focus but Forward is also about bringing people of different musical backgrounds together to open their minds to different styles. By inviting over 75 different guest djs on the span of the last year, Forward gets people to enjoy and discover new artists.

Forward is
Rhys Taylor, a nightlife legend who has been playing alongside big names of the international electronic music scene in Montreal for almost 10 years now. Holding down "Your Radio is Broken" on CKUT for the past 5 years, throwing Mix Thursdays for almost 3 years, a residency at Blue Dog, Saphir and then Blizzarts with Broken Crew and bringing breaks to Stereo are a few of his accomplishments.

David Rawalia aka Wally, a dj who has been mastering his craft since 2003 and more recently producing his own unique sounds. After promoting rave culture and sound and organizing a multitude of one-off all-nighters, he moved on to the dubstep scene taking full-part in the forward weekly as well as participating in other events such as soma and bassdrive.

Florian
BUCHERON HEADLINER

Florian is introduced to music at the tender age of 9, when he starts scratching his first guitar. This moment sparks a flame that ignites a passion for sound that will gradually melt Florian’s life and the music in a single universe. Still very young, he manages to get access to major French studios (for example Mega and Miraval), where his work gives him the opportunity to acquire solid notions of raw sound and recording. Turning his knowledge into action, he develops his own studio to record and spread the music from an eclectic array of local bands.

At this stage, he collaborates with established names like Gary Moore, Mylène Farmer, more importantly Vangelis. His association with Vangelis will be the cradle of a newborn interest: electronic music.

Armed with this impressive background, Florian initiates the production of his own brand of beats, while simultaneously mastering the art of mixing and producing himself as a DJ.

Influenced by artists as different as Midimiliz and Wizzy Noize at first, he is quick to select and incorporate elements from various electronic music styles without regard to the traditional frontiers separating them, perfecting his very own audio machine piece by piece.

Merging elements of techno, house, electro, dub and dubstep (with no audible limitations), his music is nothing short of audio blitzkrieg, striking the dancefloor swiftly and mercilessly bombing it with rhythmical frenesy paving the way for unusual melodic waves. This almost peculiar musical aspect in a style mostly associated with noise and frequency saturation creates a ‘’Florian’’ effect on the crowd, that almost unanimously ask for more. Florian’s unique dancefloor interaction also contributes in generating maximum intensity, litteraly blowing party like bullets, no matter the size of the crowd or the location of the event.

Meta B
Monkey Dub Recording

I grew up in Africa, “Mogo” from Ivory coast. I came back in Marseille, Europe, in 1997 to discover the explosion of sound systems. I considarate myself as a true Shaka ites !!! I dedicate my life to sound system culture. I was introduced to “groovebox sounds and live experimentations” thanks to them.

Big up to Boom Shakalaka sound system, Iration Steppas sound system, Jah World tubby sound system, King Shiloh sound system, Musical Riot sound system … and then I was introduce to the techno/dnb.

In 2003 I bought my first gear, a Korg electribe, and started to make my own productions. I was really influenced by the sounds I was listening in Ivory Coast: Alpha Omega, Russ D, Jonah Dan, Steve Mosco, Doogie Wardrop, Mark Iration, Denis Rooticall, Jacin, The Scientist, Jah Shaka and of course the big master Mad Professor.
Now I’m living in Montréal and I’m still making my own sound, mixing uk stepper, dubstep, jungle, dnb … or whatever you can call it, techno music.
