His bootleg remix of Michael Jackson’s Thriller, ‘Imagination’ turned 2005 Halloween crowds into a frenzy at Crobar NYC, where it was touted to be “one of the highlight tracks of the night’’ by none other than Roger Sanchez himself. Nyan was soon after featured in the Final Forty Segment of Roger’s globally syndicated radio show, Release Yourself. Along with studio partner Pierre-Andre Meunier, he has released remixes of Tom Novy’s ‘Your Body’, Roger Sanchez’s Turn on the Music & Copyright’s stomper ‘He Is’, which have already electrified Montreal dancefloors and is being supported by Roger & Chus. DeepDown studios have just released the first in a series of original tracks in August 2006. The first release is called “All I Believe In’ and has already started gaining the attention of many International DJs. He created a new partnership with Stereo Nightclub owner Scott Lancaster as the monthly resident for Scott’s International DJ night known as ‘Dirty Thursdays’. Nyan’s featured parties were known as the ‘DeepDown N Dirty’ Nights! These parties have been among the most successful in the weekly series. Nyan played the official Dirty pre-party for the return of Danny Tenaglia at Stereo. With the success of Dirty, Nyan was invited to play at GodsKitchen Canada’s Sun Dance Festival, the Canadian edition of the Global Gathering series, where he played alongside Danny Tenaglia, Victor Calderone, Steve Lawler, Bad Boy Bill, Mylo, Misstress Barbara and Sandra Collins. 2006 saw Nyan take his outside of Montreal, with performances in Ottawa, Toronto, NYC, San Francisco and Ibiza. 2007 has started off strong with opening sets for Roger Sanchez and Victor Calderone, and an ever-growing following of devoted fans. Nyan is staying true radio roots broadcasting DJ sets on the Internet radio station [ www.xanuradio.com ] in Toronto and on [ www.house-pacifique.com ] in Montreal. Nyan has since focused his monthly radio show The DeepDown Sound on House-Pacifique, featuring monthly international guest DJs, and celebrating the best of Montreal’s local DJ talent. Exclusive mixes form Nyan can also be heard on [ www.lestubbies.com ] [ www.indamix.ca ] [ www.euro-connection.net ] & his own website [ www.nyannarine.com. ] For Narine, a good night is made when the energy in the room is ripe with emotions. “I am definitely an emotional DJ… my music is even more than a story I am trying to tell, or a journey upon which I’m taking the crowd... it’s a tangible expression of my state of mind... we all truly feel that connection... and this connection is felt deep down inside…” >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>> Feb 10 Kamaka ===== About me I performed and taught (mostly classical music) all over north america in various national and world class organizations, including King Kamehameha Schools in Hawaii, 7 years with Blue Knights Drum & Bugle Corps in Denver, and a WGI world championship with Emerald Marquis of Wakefield, Mass. In 2001, I began performing, playing drums and dancing, at Disney and toured with Tony and Emmy award winning show "Blast!". With all the amazing opportunities I had in my lifetime at that point, I really felt like something was missing. I wanted something more than music as an artform. I wanted to understand what sound is, which led me on this wild journey of discovering electronic music. In 2003, with the encouragement of Jon de Mello of Hawaii's Mountain Apple Co., we started a project to bridge the gap between hawaii's local music scene and what was happening abroad. I knew I had to focus on electronic music, but I really had no idea what was out there. I went crazy when I heard the cd Oscar G, Live @ Space. A month later I ended up at Montreal's Club Stereo. Completely changed my life. I had no idea about house music! Now I can't imagine my life without it. Enough about me, lets get dancing! >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>>>>>>>>>> >>>>>>>>>>>>&g t;>>>> Feb 17 BRAD SLYDE ======== A 15 year veteran of the Montreal club scene, Brad Slyde has been tearing up the airwaves on CKUT 90.3 FM for 8 years with his weekly Heavy Rotation show while breaking new ground in online digital broadcasting along the way. In 2003, with the help of an experimental archiving system and a mailing list, Heavy Rotation became one of the first mp3 radio shows on the planet, predating the podcasting phenomenon. As interest in the show grew, it began to take such a heavy toll on the radio station's computer systems that Brad was asked to stop his internet experiments. Now hosted on [ www.discobreak.com ] the digital version of Heavy Rotation reaches over 20,000 people around the world each episode and continues to broadcast on 90.3 FM every Friday morning to Montreal and the surrounding areas. An extremely versatile club DJ, Brad has performed alongside turntable masters like Q-Bert, Z-Trip, or Ninja Tune's DJ Food, as well as appearing at events with Frankie Knuckles or Mark Farina. He's worked with the biggest legends in dance music history, throwing parties with David Mancuso and Nicky Siano. The Montreal Mirror voted him one of the city's "Best Kept Secrets" and Urb Magazine in California has called his mixes "genius". Brad has released vinyl on Vancouver's Futuristic Funk Recordings and been recruited by UK record labels like Tummy Touch and Bear Entertainment for his editing work. Brad is now a Saturday night resident at the legendary Salon Daomé club in Montreal where he holds his successful (((HEAVY DISCO))) events every 2 months. Bring dancing shoes ;) |
