Description: | OnAir with NCV is proud to present Fat East Coast. Founder of bogdega records. Fat East Coast BIO "When you're hot, never stop working." Ice Cube, 1991 Taking this motto to heart by wearing more hats than a baseball team, Montreal-based dj, label owner, music critic and one-man music factory Matthew Hiscock hasn't stopped working in, seemingly, forever. But with plays in recent months from artists as diverse as Lee Burridge, James Zabiela, Nick Warren, Mike Hiratzka, Slam, Elite Force, Paolo Modjo and rave reviews across the board it looks like all the work is starting to pay off. A producer under the names of Fat East Coast, Bootleg Soundsystem and a few others; owner of Bodega/Bootleg Sounds Recordings; head engineer of Distillery Mastering; Montreal area dj and freelance music critic, it can all be a bit much at times, but it's a labour of love. With a sound that pulls the best from techno, house, breaks and anything else worth listening to, and issuing forth from a veritable old-age home of analog gear called The Distillery, it's a thick, full sound that threatens to rip your speakers but leaves you wanting more. This love of a dirty yet funky, nasty but nice sound spills into the live experience as well. Playing an upfront mix of techy goods and housy greats, he's been rocking the local Montreal scene the last couple of years and is starting to see interest on the international scene as well. Things are heating up for sure. Click here for the Fat East Coast "FatCast" podcast |
