MISS BLYSS [DCS905, General Misconduct Entertainment, Two Tone]

DUBCOMM

Across the spectrum of drum'n'bass, it is said that only the strong will survive. DCS905
mastermind and CEO Tyler ”Dubcomm" Metford is a shining example of this statement.
Full time producer, DJ, graphic designer, promoter, and all around purveyor of drum'n'bass
music, his ascent from underground obscurity on the outskirts of Toronto to the forefront
of its once again unyeilding electronic music movement has been a natural progression, so
to speak. Amalgamating his networking skills with computer knowledge and a love for rave
culture and music, Dubcomm has spent the better part of the last decade working the dnb
party circuit in the concrete jungle of Toronto.

He was quick to soak in the sounds and culture of the scene and soon began to develop a
hunger to create and further the sounds that were coming out of Toronto at the time. After
graduating from one of Toronto's most prestigious media colleges with a degree in audio
engineering, the music he was creating began to drastically improve as he pumped out
banger after banger. Early on in his career, he caught the attention of Impure Productions
who had a wildly popular weekly event at a club-district venue called Mad Bar. Dubcomm
soon became a regular performer at Mad Bar, opening up for big name acts from all corners
of the globe. He & partner DJ Faktah also won a prominent mix competition early in his
DJing career, put on by [ Torontojungle.com ]

2002 brought the formation of DCS905, a group of artists selected by Dubcomm that possess
100% dedication to promoting "the Future of Toronto's Drum and Bass." After
throwing several diverse events on their own, as well as collaborating with many of
Toronto's finest artists and promoters, the DCS905 crew has developed a sound of its own,
heavily influenced by the "techy" drum'n'bass sounds from the UK and across
Eastern Europe and parts of the United States, which many purists refer to as "tekno
dnb".

Dubcomm produces a prime-time radio slot on 89.5FM Saturday nights in Toronto, featuring
DCS905's resident roster of artists, DJs and performers, as well as special guests and
international exclusives which air each and every week. The show is considered to be a
staple of the Toronto drum'n'bass community. He has also headlined events in virtually
every city in Southern Ontario, and received international attention for his intricately
produced tracks.

Keep watch for his production projects, as Dubcomm put together the label launch tracks
for US based Gun Recordings, and is currently building an EP project for the same label.
He also has forthcoming projects including collaborations with Catacomb, Jeph & Symbiant.

MISS BLYSS

Music is something that affects us all on some level. While some are content to
simply remain avid listeners and enjoy the correlation of human thought intertwined
through rhythms and lyrical prowess, every so often comes along someone that not only has
a great ear for original and subsequently groundbreaking music, but simply cannot suppress
their adoration for the sounds which they know and love. It is often said that open minded
people with diverse tastes make the best DJs, as they have a broad knowledge of different
musical structures and Toronto native MISS BLYSS is no exception to
such a statement.

Her story begins in Calgary, Alberta on the West Coast of Canada where Calgary, she grew
up listening to everything from rock music that was coming out at the time to the
early-mid 90s g funk and oldschool analog-style production of the hip hop greats of that
era. She packed up and left the busy city surrounded by countryside landscapes and the
Rocky Mountains and moved ship eastward at the tender age of 14 she settled in to her
newfound home in Ontario.

She began spinning underground hip hop and classic anthems at the ripe age of 17, digging
deep in to the party favour-rich catalogues of such classic genre-defining artists as
Digable Planets, Warren G, Slum Village, Da Brat and Point of Pressure to name just a few.
The driving basslines, danceable break beats and party inducing lyrics helped her keep
house parties rocking for years around the Greater Toronto Area. She soon began writing
her own lyrics and ciphering local Toronto clique the Golden Mic Kids. After spending time
perfecting her craft she began leaving other MCs in her path in awe of her skilled
delivery and clever word play.

Around the same time she started playing hip hop, she began to fall in love with the
sounds of drum and bass. The same musical elements in a lot of the party anthems and funky
hip hop beats she had grown to love were present in a lot of the classic DNB she grew up
on. She discovered the sounds of Nicky Blackmarket, Shy FX, Kenny Ken, Ed Rush + Optical
to name a few. She began attending parties in Toronto and discovered other types of
electronic music that she had a penchant for as well, including breaks and booty house.
Her foray into the world of drum’n’bass took a sharp turn uphill in 2006 when she hit the
Toronto circuit like a bat out of hell, lighting a fire up behind the competition she
quickly surpassed.

Her ever-improving skills behind the decks earned her spots opening up for prolific
artists from around the world including T Power, John B, Annalyze, DJ K and cemented her
status as one of Toronto’s go-to up and comers. She continues to maintain a steady flow of
bookings within and beyond the borders of Ontario, having headlined events in Montreal,
Quebec. Miss Blyss was instantly adopted in to Markham’s premier drum’n’bass organization,
DCS905 with whom she works closely and holds a residency on DCS905 Radio (Saturdays on
89.5 FM in Toronto). Her style quickly caught the eye of General Misconduct Entertainment
who instantly granted her a residency into one of Toronto’s most diverse and ground
breaking crews in recent memory. She has been a key player in GME and is/has been a
resident of Prolifik Radio (Saturdays on [ www.planetdnb.com ] Taste of Bass Radio
(Wednesdays on [ www.bassjunkees.com ] Frenzy Fridays @ The Apothecary, as well as the End
Of The World Tour in `06 and the Resurrection Tour in `07.

With her place held firmly within Toronto’s tight-knit DNB community, Miss Blyss is poised
for great things in the future and has plans of expanding her horizons into the realm of
production.
