Info: | EVERY FRIDAY NIGHT INSIDE CLUB V.I.B.E. Our mission is to provide a unique clubbing experience by keeping it fresh by showcasing the best local, national & international talent in both rooms, inside the biggest 2 room club in dowtown Ottawa. In celebration of Club Vibe's 1st year anniversary, and the beginning of HOT 89.9 fm co-promoting 4Play Fridays, we are proud to have Rob Brown (Stereo - Montreal) back. Rob and Jamez played a killer set last week (at the 4Play launch party / afterhours event), and the over 400 ppl who attended witnessed some of the funkiest beats Ottawa has seen in a while. Expect the same type of funky basslines and sexy vocals this week, as 4Play resident Paulo Cardoso aka Pablo Diablo (Onaversal) opens for Rob Brown in the house room. Be prepared to be taken on a true journey since Rob will be dropping a 3 hour Extended set. Special guest this week is Montreal's funky house master Rob Brown (Stereo / In Beat - Montreal). Wanna know more bout Rob Brown... Rob Brown is the kind of guy who plays by his own set of rules. In an industry where many DJs get booked due to the merits of their production work, Rob stands out as a DJ who has played across North America and Europe without a single production credit to his name. No production credits, that is, until now. With releases about to drop on labels such as Odds n Ends and Muzique Boutique, as well as several other projects and collaborations in the works – 2004 looks like it will be a promising and pivotal year for the already busy DJ. During his 10 years behind the wheels of steel - 27 year old Montrealer Rob Brown has played alongside such Dj’s as Onionz, Derrick Carter, Danny Tenaglia, Frankie Knuckles, John Howard, Q-Bert, Dante, Dj Heather, Afrika Bambataa, Carl Cox, Mark Farina, Terry Mullen, H- Foundation, Diz, Jeno, Kenny Hawkes, Dj Sneak, The Hardkiss Brothers, Tony Humphries, Lil Louie Vega, Terry Francis, Dj spen and countless others. Rob has also had the opportunity to play all across North America, in such cities as New York, Boston, Texas, San Francisco, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Florida and pretty much every major city in Canada as well as a stop on the other side of the pond. In his hometown of Montreal he has held residencies at clubs like Living, Angel’s (Way back when…), Groove Society, the infamous SONA(RIP) and more recently – The world renowned STEREO, where he has been playing regularly for the last 3 years. Playing at Stereo, as Rob puts it “It’s a whole different ballgame… The sound system is truly something else... I don’t think there is anything like it on the face of the planet. It (The sound system) plays with you as much as you play with it, which in this case, is a good thing… You truly have to experience it to know and feel what I’m talking about…” Musically, Rob is not easily pigeonholed. His sets weave together all types of house music with either a reckless Chicago based mixing technique, or a smoother more programming oriented method. Unable to stand still, he is nearly always in the mix, yet he understands the delicate balance between layering sounds to create something new and giving a song room to breathe. He constantly monitors the room and reacts to the crowd in a way that makes even a big room setting feel intimate. “There have been up’s and there have been down’s… but at the end of the day, all I ever wanted to do was get all the cool records, play em. And expose em to people that may not have heard em…And I have done pretty well in that department …I’m a total track nerd…Always was, always will be…The fact that I have got to do this for a living for almost 10 years now is something I took for granted for a while…But not anymore…Not everyone gets the chance to make people dance, bug out, forget about there problems…All that jazz…Sounds Cheesy, but it’s true…If all this ended tomorrow…Well…I’d be pissed ;) …But I would still be grateful to have got to do what I got to do…Not only as a Dj…But as just another head on the floor who had the time of his life” This all goes down every friday @ Club V.I.B.E. (137 Besserrer / corner Dalhousie) 19+ with ID / no hats - runners are accepted 10pm to 3am only $7 all night! Please note ALL passes are valid for this special event :) There will also be tons of give-aways from the Hot 89 street team and from Club Vibe. Don't forget to get there early to enjoy the $2.50 mixed drinks b4 11pm!! |
