Microtek V.9 - With D-Nox And Many More [ Static Link : iCal ]
City:Canada, Quebec, Montreal
Time:Fri Nov 20, 2009 @ 10:00pm till Sat Nov 21, 2009 @ 6:00am
Description:Noerg Productions is moving on with its series of high-resonance events November 20th, 2009, when it once again takes over Espace Réunion’s locals (6610 Hutchison) for a ninth edition of its Microtek events this time bringing forward a more than worldwide artist which, on top of his 20 years of DJing experience, will be unleashed on Montreal with a 3-hours DJ set covering all the conceivable array of human emotions. No other than D-Nox (!) will be accompanied by a 4 tables DJ performance of new Attitude Recordings duo Tapwatr&Tenzin, and an Olivier Saint-Germain DJ set to warm up the ambiance and kickstart the night.

D-Nox. As soon as 1992, immediately following the fall of the Berlin wall, this young German is basically swallowed by the techno music storm covering his country and as early as 1994, he is a resident DJ in several key electronic music venues of the ‘90’s like the Area Code (1996-2000). Already internationally renowned in those days for his unique dancefloor interaction and his ability to play with the dancers for hours before striking them with hallucinating partybombs, he launches in 2000 a label (Sprout Records) and joins his intimate knowledge of the dancefloor to the musical talents of producer Beckers. The D-Nox&Beckers duo then start to produce its own bombs, like the Jetlag Slave track which kills the 12’’ market, culminating in 2006 with the release of ‘’Left Behind’’, a full album of intertwined progressive music of various flavors furnishing atomic war material to DJs and producers worldwide. The D-Nox&Beckers recipe makes them sought-after remixers, and D-Nox is a DJ that circles the planet several times a year. After a remarked appearance at Eclipse festival’s 2008 edition, he is now back in Montreal, November 20th, 2009, with a 3 hours DJ-set that promises to strike you like a weather catastrophe.

Toronto-native Tapwatr is implicated in music since age 13, first as a metal guitarist, before he turned his interest to electronic music as a founding member of numerous organisations dedicated to parties (Blacklight Activists notably; more recently the Montreal-based Attitude Recordings label), as a DJ and as a producer. Recognized internationally, his bulldozer-like style is quite appropriate to atomize anything wandering between the speakers. Tenzin (aka Dominic Dublin) is a Montreal eclectic DJ with a high sense of musical selection. Active since 1999, more remarked since 2003, when he joins the Tech-Safari collective mostly known for the well established Canadian Eclipse mega-festival, Tenzin is evolving recently in a minimal-tech tendancy in which he is particularly good at getting the party slamming. Noerg productions offers you a dual-headed 4-tabled DJ performance of these two artists, uniting their forces for a moment of inexorable rythmic mathematics.

Olivier Saint-Germain is a Montreal DJ infecting the scene since 1999 with his eclectic prog style ‘’à là’’ D-Nox&Beckers, regularly playing the Eclipse festival and owning reputed residencies (notably the Noerg events in Salon Daomé). Influences as diverse as Giorgio Moroder, Front 242 and Gui Boratto have gradually shaped his unique style very sought after by the Montreal audience. Needless to say, he is coming prepared with a devastating set to open the road for the D-Nox hurricane.

Visual aspect of the night will be shaped by VJ Mikiram, presenting visuals mixing the numerical medium with travels video material, swimming in the eerie waters separating real and absurd; and of M.E.O. a VJ navigating under these same waters separating abstract and concrete, inspired this time by nature.

This guy is German. He really is, trust me! Looking at his tour calendar, you wouldn`t know it. Because D-Nox spends more time abroad, captivating huge crowds worldwide with his genre defying sets between Techno, Electro and Progressive House, than in his motherland. About 95 percent of the time he is busy somewhere between Mexico, Israel, China, Australia, Russia, Japan or God knows where. Often playing in front of 20,000 and more party-goons at the most renowned venues. Has this man forgotten about his roots, neglected his heritage? Certainly not, but D-Nox is simply one of the top Export-Acts of his own country. How did this come about, you might ponder? Well, let me tell you...

This more than eager youngster already started spinning 12inches way back in the days, 1992 to be precise. He was instantly consumed by the first wave of Techno-Music that hit Germany at the time. Within a couple of years D-Nox had landed residencies at some of the elite clubs of his region; The Poison Club 1994-96, Ratinger Hof 1995-97, Area Code 1996-2000 and Evosonic Radio 1997-99. Basically never being out of a residency job for more than a few months. Of course simultaneously stirring up numerous top notch clubs such as the Tresor, Tribehouse, Ultraschall and the Aufschwung Ost. His intimate interplay between the electrified audience and himself is the reason for his immense popularity as a deejay. Preferably long sets with countless ups and downs are his trademark, toying with the hungry crowd for several hours, before finally dropping the party-bomb on them.

After gaining enough experience and musical know-how over the last decade, D-Nox decided to also pursue other goals. 2000 was the year he landed a job as an A&R for Tatsu Records. For the next 48 months the talent agent was active spotting the next big unsigned thing. But being the hack that he is, D-Nox started is own label called Sprout Music. Just a short period after which he also started the sub-label Plastik Park. This chap was practically breathing in music 24 hours a day.

His greatest accomplishments as a producer where yet ahead of this already extremely experienced know-it-all. The project D-Nox & Beckers was introduced to the electronic-community. Tracks such as Jetlag Slave (Baroque, UK), Seven Hours (Electribe) and Memory Cell (in cooperation with David Amo & Julio Naves from Spain) where all incredibly successful 12inches. All reaching the number one spot on Beatport, the international top download webpage for all electronic producers. The debut album had to ensue. 2007 marked the year of the LP Left Behind, which was once again released on the label Electribe. All new and original tracks were written and recorded for the longplayer. Instead of simply positioning one song after the other, D-Nox & Beckers intertwined all tracks with each other, giving the listener the vibe of a live DJ-mix. Left Behind was especially auspicious in Japan and Brazil. The first single Shanghigh was another enormous breakthrough track for the dynamic duo. Minilogue and Patrick Zigon remixes will be released shortly. Aside from their own productions, D-Nox & Beckers are highly sought-after remixers. Minilogue, Tocadisco and many well-known artists are among the musicians they have worked with.

The radio-show D-Nox In Demand is just another document for this mans ability to mesmorize millions. Regularly D-Nox presents the latest in electronic beats to the masses.
The audience is listening, one could certainly say. Not merely in his native land, but the entire world. Wake up Germany, D-Nox is right around the corner!!!
