Info: | Doc's Comments As noted breifly in the event info, this was a free event for everyone that went to Boo 2. For everyone that says Synergy is all about the bling bling, I point those people to this event. Essentially because there was no way to actually prove who was or wasn't at Boo2, this event for all intents and purposes was donation only. Between nice honest people who paid to get in, donations, and walk-ins because we were at a downtown venue, we managed to somehow let over 400 people into this event for free and not lose our shirts doing it. That said, this event was amazing! Great crowd, great venue, great performances from all the djs, most of whom were performing for free. The only downside to this event, the only thing that kept it from being perfect, was the security staff of the venue. There was absolutely nothing good about them - they were slow, stupid, mean, rude, everything shitty about security and nothing good. People had to wait outside in the cold for up to 90 minutes waiting to get in, and then the policy to go out and smoke (since Ottawa is a no-smoking city) was inconsistant and stupid. They wanted to leave early and when we finished the event they rudely yelled at the crowd to get the hell out, even though it was THEIR STAFF holding people up getting stuff out of coat check! It made us so angry that during cleanup we almost got into a physical fight with them. There's not a lot you can do during the night when you realize you're working with a bunch of wads that you have very little control over, but I'm happy to say that they were all unemployed 2 months later when the bar shut down, in my opinion as a direct result of their standoff attitudes scaring away all potential clientelle. |
