Extras: | ---DROPPING ANCHOR --- APOCALYPTICA presents a night of the deepest dirtiest and wild and worldliest that the west coast dub community has to offer... ft: Taal Mala - Vancity One of the West coasts most prominent Dubstep djs been "Killing sound since ‘97, Taal Mala is tearing up the dancefloors and doin’ it to ya in the earhole with warbling sub frequencies that have been known to merk an internal organ or two. His music encompasses a mashup of dubstep, dancehall, ragga jungle, and techno with throbbing basslines, glitched out ragga vibes, turntablism, and complex riddim changes that will warp your perception of dancefloor music. As a member of the SUB-OSC and Lighta! soundsystems, Taal Mala has buried an excess of tin pan soundboys alongside The Bug, Kode9, Loefah, Rusko, Benga, Skream, Hatcha, Youngsta, Martyn…etc. Keep your eyes open for more from Taal Mala on “lighta!” and “SUB-OSC” releases in 2009." [ www.myspace.com ] [ www.mutimusic.com ] [ www.dubstepforum.com ] + Tarran the Tailor - Vancity With a banjo in one hand and a beatbox in the other, like a strange arabian bluesman enticing a video game to dance, Tarran the tailor saunters a slow tango through a forest of scrikety scratches, coming out the other side, with a rose between his teeth. On a stage, he is a subtle madman, walking his neighbourhood of songs blind, feeling each step, one word at a time. He seems to be not as concerned with the meaning of the word, more with the sound of it, leaving the lips slowly, squeezing each syllable for the drips of meaning. In between songs, instead of stories, he'll meander through voices and characters that seem alien and familiar, like a little gremlin thats been there all along, letting us see inside his strange musicbox, and the contraptions inside. But dont think that he is all about the odd parlour tricks, his music is also grounded with a deep root of human warmth; reaching through the ground slowly, to the center of this, simple, sensual, and thankfull. His latest album, wooden boombox, is tin-can bluesman wailing, globulous tremulous basses, clickety clack lightswitch glitches, and a suitcase full of found sounds from around the world, swept from a creaky floor. A rusty soundtrack for a night of passion. it is out now on hawah musica [ www.tarran.ca ] [ www.hawah.net ] + Ancient Rugged Revival - Vancity .... dusty stomp gypsy emotional clown church. ...... they are not a dj. they are live theatre. they are like a breath of fresh air, and a fist full of smoke. A clank on the floor, and a whisper in your ear. a fire in the palm of your hand, and a piece of ice down your shirt. they have delighted audiences from here to there, and promise to do the same to you, and then spill your drink, cause you might just forget you got one, the breakneck action is just that intense. the ancient rugged revival. reviving audiences with the power of Crazy Love since before any of us could remember otherwise. [ www.myspace.com ] [ www.hawah.net ] + Mad tripuals by SIMPLY COMPLICATED Deep bass and a change of pace! new sounds! ...every one knows the merkage Taal Mala brought when he was here back in December.
