Info: | Hailing from New York City, the center of the north eastern megalopolis, this dynamic trio from Survival Crew holds it down strong, as NYC's reigning kings of ragga jungle. Human? and Tuffist are long time residents at Konkrete Jungle, America's first and longest running weekly jungle/D&B event, taking place every Monday night since1994. During the darker years of Drum and Bass, Human and Tuffist realized that the emerging techy sound did not capture their hearts, as did the rugged, anthemic jungle sounds that they had grown up vibing to. At this point they embarked on expanding their already growing crates to a titanic collection of rare and classic jungle vinyl with which they were able to keep foundational jungle from being no more than a fleeting memory in the New York area. Bass Nacho arrived in New York from Miami in late 2001. By fate he made a surprise appearance during one of Survival's monthly nights at Konkrete Jungle. Human? and Tuffist were immediatly blown away by his vocal skills and energy on the mic. From there, things seemed to come together natrually for the three. Together they have played events all over the easten seaboard, from Boston to D.C. to Miami, as far north as Toronto and Ottawa, as far west as Las Vegas and L.A., and overseas in London and Amsterdam. With the Stateside Ragga Revival movment in full swing, these three spend almost all their spare time in the studio laying down rugged jungle dubs and vocals. Recently Survival has been orchestrating a series of monthly jungle events, hosted at Konkrete Jungle, at which they have showcased artists who are helping to build the stateside jungle sound. These artists include: CRS?, Jackey Murda, Krinjah, Raw, General Malice & MC Stadda, Capital J, Debaser, and Tester. Survival has plans for starting their own imprint, Ivy Leauge, in the very near future. Bass Nacho currently has projects in the works with General Malice, Krinjah, Tester, and Survival's own Human? & Tuffist and is scheduled for release on Chopstick Dublate(CHOP 05). The trio also have a live mixed CD recorded at Konkrete Jungle 6/16/03, alongside General Malice, forth coming on N20. When performing live they are known to let the energy flow, so be prepared for a manic evening any time these three are on the bill! |
