Info:Elevation

This month I have decided to go back to the days when I really started to DJ trance at a bar. I would like to welcome back two of my favourite trance DJ's who pretty much inspired me to start taking up DJing more seriously, Alec Todd and Shaun Baker. They will be gracing the decks, as well as an opening set by myself at Helsinki Lounge and Disco on January 26th!

Helsinki and Tantric Productions proudly present:

Elevation

Helsinki has been the only location in Ottawa willing to give the trance scene a monthly event that would be willing to give your feet a run for its money! This will be the seventh installment of Elevation, which seems to have found a place to stay in the Ottawa scene for good! The nights have been getting better and better with the months that pass. The sixth installment had a remarkable 140 people come out, which has been the best month yet. I know this night will only get better and better as the months proceed, so put on your best smile and make sure your fingers are well in shape for the air piano's on this night!

DJ's for the evening, and in the order of the night, are as follows.

Chakra V
Velvet, Tantric

Chakra V has been a busy little trance DJ as of late. He has been getting an incredible amount of interest from fellow DJs to play on this night. He is the founder of Tantric Productions who has some big plans for 2006 that include bringing in DJs from out of town, and out of the country. Highlight of his career so far would have to be opening up for the one and only Ferry Corsten at Helsinki Lounge and Disco, and has hopes for opening up for many more trance DJs to come. For this night, he will provide an excellent progressive/trance set to get you in the mood for Alec Todd and Shaun Baker, so come out early and experience three of Ottawa's trance DJs.

Alec Todd
Tantric

After randomly buying a copy of Paul Oakenfold’s 1998 CD Tranceport, Alec became hooked on this music we know as trance. Alec got his start back in 2003 hosting a late night radio show called Trancefusion. Regular co-djs included Shaun Baker and Chris Girard, both
accomplished dj's in their own right. Alec also made common guest appearances on VH3 and Jon Degans weekly Friday night trance show called The Deep Blue. Alec has been heard at the Surface search competition, Ministry of Sound DJ Competition, the now defunct Buddha bar, Club MTL and now Helsinki. His versatility as a dj being able to play anything from Trance to progressive to funky house keeps the clubbers guessing as to where he will take them. No matter what kind of music you enjoy, you can be assured that you will always hear one or two classics thrown into every set blended with the best of best.

Shaun Baker
Tantric

Shaun started DJing in his bedroom in mid 2003 and within a few months found himself playing at various clubs around town. In early 2004, Shaun won the Ministry of Sound "Future" talent DJ competition awarded by Guy Ornadel. He was one of seven winners chosen from over 400 amateur DJs worldwide and
subsequently had his mix aired on Ministry of Sound radio. Shaun continued to improve upon his international exposure by playing twice on the Global
Soundwave Broadcast on one of the worlds most popular internet radio stations, ETN.fm. Other artists on this show have been Markus Schulz, Filo & Peri, Alex MORPH, ATB, and John '00' Fleming. Most recently, Shaun has been heard on several other internet radio stations such as [ party107.com ] [ afterhoursdjs.com ] and iTunes. Known for his vast knowledge of trance and
smooth track selection, it is easy to see why Shaun has become a crowd favourite. His influences include Above & Beyond, Smith & Pledger, The Thrillseekers, Alex MORPH, Ferry Corsten, and Armin van Buuren. Shaun has spent most of 2005 living in Grande Prairie, Alberta working in the oil patch, but now hes back to give the Ottawa trance faithful a night to remember forever. Expect to hear the latest and greatest tunes in the world
of trance.
