Info: | On Tuesday, October 25, 2005, Kapacity Entertainment proudly presents one of Canada’s greatest MC/producers, Kardinal Offishall. Kardinal's lyrical skills, inventive beats, and unique blend of hip-hop, dancehall, reggae, and soul, has set him above the rest. Kardinal Offishall started rapping at an early age and was winning competitions by the time he was 12. In 1993, Kardinal formed The Circle, a collection of like-minded artists and musicians that included fellow Toronto natives Saukrates, Choclair, Jully Black, Solitaire, and Tara Chase. After years of hustling at the independent level, which included winning two Juno Awards (Best Rap Recording for The Rascalz's "Northern Touch" and Best Rap Recording for Choclair's "Let's Ride"), Kardinal released his major label debut, Firestarter Vol.1: Quest for Fire, in 2001. The album received an overwhelming response from radio and club DJs and earned him an even larger fan base. The albums first single, Bakardi Slang, became an international hit, as Kardinal witnessed while touring the U.S. and Europe. The impact of Bakardi Slang became fully evident when superstar reggae artist, Bounty Killer, approached Kardinal about appearing on a remix of Bakardi Slang because of its huge popularity in Bounty’s native Jamaica. The second single, Ole Time, received an even larger response. The video achieved a significant run on BET and was in heavy rotation on MuchMusic. Its been 4 years since his last major release but Kardinal has maintained his presence in the public by producing and guest appearing on mix tapes and numerous remixes from The Neptunes produced "Grindin" by the Clipse to UK grime star Lethal Bizzle's, Pow! Last year Kardinal independently released his Kill Bloodclott Bill Vol. 1 mix tape which was nominated for a Juno for best rap recording. So far in 2005, Kardinal has been featured in 2 videos, won a UMAC award for best recording for Empty Barrel (2004), and completed a national tour with 50 Cent and G-Unit. Kardinal’s highly anticipated new album, Fire & Glory, comes out in November. Get ready Ottawa for an unforgettable show from an amazing live performer, Kardinal Offishall. Another Toronto-based artist who has quickly made a name for himself, Rochester AKA Juice, will be opening for Kardinal. Juice’s lyrics speak to distinctly local concerns while carrying universal themes. His full-length debut, A New Day, was released earlier this year and gained high praise and acclaim, including a MuchMusic Video Award nomination for best rap video. A wordsmith and every inch a performer, JUICE is beginning to emerge as the embodiment of a new generation of urban storytellers. He is smooth, honest and an authentic MC. Also performing is Ottawa’s S.T.A.Y. and DJ Mace (Ebony & Ivory) will be the DJ for the evening.
