Info: | On Saturday, August 20, 2005, Kapacity Entertainment proudly presents the legendary Bay Area hip-hop crew, Hieroglyphics, featuring Souls of Mischief (A-plus, Opio, Phesto, and Tajai), Pep Love, Casual, and special guest, O.C. of D.I.T.C. at the Capital Music Hall. Hieroglyphics has emerged as a powerful force within the underground hip-hop culture. This crew is one of the first to successfully forge careers as a collective and as individual artists with sales totaling well beyond 3 million units. Hiero came to the forefront of hip-hop in the early nineties when founder, Del, dropped his debut album and with the 12” singles that followed it’s release. It was with Souls of Mischief’ debut , 93 til Infinity, and Casual’s 1994 release, Fear Itself, that Hieroglyphics cemented their place as one of hip-hop’s best. After Souls’ follow up, No Man’s Land, the crew severed ties with their record labels and took complete control over their careers. In 1997, armed with experience and insight, Hieroglyphics formed their own independent company, Hiero Imperium, and have since released several albums as a collective such as Third Eye Vision, and the CD/DVDs One Big Trip and Full Circle. Hieroglyphics have also produced countless albums, singles, and mixtapes as individual artists on Hiero Imperium such as Souls’ Trilogy, Casual’s He Think He Raw, Pep Love’s Ascension, Tajai’s Power Movement, and Opio’s albums. In recent years, Hiero have branched out to artists outside their crew to release music on their label, such as Encore and the up-coming O.C. album. Hieroglyphics last performance in the nation’s capital was in 2003 where they performed to an ecstatic sold-out show, expect no less for this event from the crew who have perfected their live show by constantly touring for legions of fans around the world. This special event will feature another respected veteran of the hip-hop game, O.C. An early friend and collaborator with Organized Konfusion, O.C. appeared on the duo's 1991 single "Fudge Pudge" and gained a record deal for his smooth, intelligent raps. In 1994 he dropped his classic debut, Word…Life, and continued to build a strong following with his crew, Diggin in the Crates (Big L, Fat Joe, OC, Showbiz & A.G., Diamond D, Lord Finesse, and Buckwild). Since then he has released several solo albums, various projects with D.I.T.C, and has worked with many top MCs and producers. O.C.’s next full-length album, Smoke and Mirrors, will soon be released on Hiero Imperium. Opening Act: S.T.A.Y.
