Bob Sinclar He’s undoubtedly better known as Mighty Bop, Chris the French Kiss and Bob Sinclar, some of the musical aliases he’s had since bursting onto the DJ scene a number of years ago. But pseudonyms aside, the fact remains Christophe Le Friant, the Parisian-born and raised funk-rapping, hip-hopping, wildly popular DJ sure knows how to rock a party, as he will be doing at the Helsinki Lounge on November 18. This time, it’s Bob Sinclar, the James Bond parody that Le Friant created from a character in a French spy movie, who will be in the house, inducing dance-floor hysteria as he adds a French twist to funky disco grooves in his own inimitable style, that has been described as whimsical, playful, groovy, sultry and hedonistic. “I was into music from the first time I saw a DJ play two records together at Le Palace (in Paris),†says Le Friant. From this first musical exposure, he has traveled along a career path that has seen him develop such innovative projects as Bob Sinclar and the creation of the “Yellow†label, producing such dance-floor mania as “Gym Tonic†and “The Ghettoâ€, and party anthems such as “I Feel For You.†In the process, he has become one of Europe’s leading DJs, in demand all over the world. “I think your music is a reflection of your mentality,†he once remarked in explaining his philosophy as an artist. “Music is really in my life to give me some happiness, not to give some darkness.†He’s been spreading that happiness throughout his remarkable DJ career.
