Toronto DJ Matthew Casselman (a.k.a. Matt C) has been bringing the house to the kids for years now. Along with being one of the area's hardest working DJs, Matt C is also known as one of the people who launched Industry, an oft-missed T-Dot nightspot that ruled the city's club scene from 1996 to 2000.
"The special thing about Industry was that no one had ever tried to bring these big name DJs into Toronto," he says. Indeed, Industry was notable for showcasing a diverse array of electronic dance stars like Danny Tenaglia, Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and David Morales. Matt C recalls a time when he could book trance heavyweight Paul Oakenfold for $1,500. Oakey now charges about 30 times that price to perform. |
