THere's a morbid fascination inherent to our species. Burden of consciousness. We're probably one of the few species that can intellectualize our own mortality and since nobody has ever gotten back to us about what happens after death, it's fundamentally interesting. Suffering is the scale on which we explore our morbid fascination and Jackass and Bum Hunter only push the envelope closer to snuff films.
The Greeks had the Olympics for peace within the Hellenic states which were fighting over pretty much everything and the Romans weren't really invited. The Romans had their Gladiators to feed their morbidity. All we have is CNN. At least the Romans were honest about their bloodlust.
Here's a thought: Would you watch a televised execution?

humans are animals with instincts.
our instincts tell us to survive, at any cost.
However, the idealistic rules and goals that our society has created are in reality completely unrealistic and clash with humanities drive to survive.
Humans do not deserve the majority of things that we take for granted.
We do not have the wisdom or knowledge it requires to overcome that inner desire to kill your neighbor and fuck his wife.

Deep down we all want to kill every single person who looks at us in a way we don't like.

cnn is international journalism at it's finest. it's unbiased, impartial, AND neutral on all the stories it presents. ON top of that it never takes sides. cnn never goes in for sensationalist journalism. Not like those "godless vermin at Al Jazeera" as Paula Zahn put it so eloquently. For my money, it doesn't get any better than having Aaron Brown break the news on the world's most recent calamity or what I should fear next.

CNN ran a story on Bush's dog dying. I think that alone shows how much CNN is nothing but watered-down all-american crap.
