| Sports are a distraction. Sports are not fun, they are made so that people don't pay close attention to everything the govt. and the people in charge do.
Anyone remember the fall of the Roman Empire? A little thing called The Olympic Games? That the greeks used to keep their people under controll that, when the romans stopped hosting them after invading greece, they got toppled?
Diffrence between now and then is that the "people in charge" of things have realised that one event isn't enough, people will get bored of just one thing, so they make multiple sports to get people "addicted" to watching and participating in, so that they won't learn anything about what their "leaders" are doing since they'll be too busy watching their sports.

Re-read my post and apply it to Jackass instead of hockey/football/nascar/basketball/whatever.
It's called satiating the masses. People watch it, get entertained, fall in love with it, think the people behind it are talented and geniuses and devote their life to watching the show and learning all they can about the people involved in the same way people freak out over a good goalie or a good driver. |
