well there arent bars on the window, but i think it would be a challenge to break in. caz the appartment is kinda half underground, and there is a huge metal bar for the parking lot and a cement wall by the window..it would take alot of work to get to the window. plus its right near a 24 hour gas station and a bus stop..so maybe people would hesitate a lil more about breaking in?

i live in the plateau right now, by mont royal metro..and i havent really seen much sketchy stuff going on.. except for the occasional drug dealing at the metro, i never really had a problem.

I grew up in the mcgill ghetto. 4 blocks away from st.laurent.

I loved it.. I hated the fact my dad wanted to move and I still do.

It isnt a super safe area but I feel alright walking around there late at night.

personally, i dig the Mont Royal area....it's got it's junkies and break-ins but i feel i can walk around at night without any worries. Bars on the window are a good idea though any time you live in a semi-basement apartment.

btw, there's junkies and break-ins everywhere (except Westmount perhaps....there it's just high class junkies, ones that do corporate fraud to pay for their habits instead of stealing/mugging :b). I live on the corner of Hutchison/Bernard which is basically the edge of Outremont and we have junkies and hookers here too....they just keep a lower profile..

And flat.line.dive is right, Deadmonton is REALLY sketch....go live on the corner of 107/107 or down on 109a and then the worst parts of Mtl won't seem scary at all....

I think the east end of the city and little burgendy is way more sketchy then the point...

as for the mcgill hgetto and the plateau being sketchy how about explaining the 4 murders in the ghetto over the last few days...
no motive no nothing...on these murders...
crazy shit...

the east isn't as bad as it used to be

i've lived here all 19 years and I feel relatively safe when I walk home at night

then again, it's only a 5 min walk from the metro or a 5-step walk from a cab

I heard a rumor that Walkley is apparently one of the worst streets (crime-wise) nationwide.
