lastly, ian, [ www.ipodlounge.com ]

be warned, id3 tag maintenance is a labor of love. ive got a mere 4000 tracks on my harddisk and it took at least twelve hours to re-organize the damage done by the idiots off kazzaa who ripped them.

if you love your music the investment, in my opinion is worth it.

Lagging Batteries?

Lithium ion batteries are particularly susceptible to aging; as soon as one leaves the manufacturing line, its countdown begins. A typical lifespan is two to three years, whether it is ever used or not

So I take it having 7962 MP3s would take me a wheee bit of time to get everything up and running properly, as opposed to, say, spending 6-8 minutes burning a CD for my diskman?

Wow. The advantages of the iPod are astounding. I can waste my time in entierly new ways.

fred, no one's making you buy an ipod..

but saying diskmans are better is stupid, when i leave in the morning to go to work or school i have to pick out what to listen to before leaving..

with an ipod you can pick where ever you are..
and you're not stuck with the same disk to listen to all day.. unless you bring a cd case.. which also has to have some predescided cds in as well..

yep. also, no moving parts, so you can violently throw the thing across the room, and it wont skip or miss a beat.

although we do not condone the practice of pod abuse, its got 25 second memory for anti-skip. but comparing pod memory to cd memory or even minidisc mem is like apples oranges and pineapples.

the pod still wins.

and i love the fact that its recognized by macs without any software installs. i use the extra space for data transfer between school and home, i.e. no more cdroms.
