It sounded like just another urban legend-a videotape filled with nightmarish images, leading to a phone call foretelling the viewer's death in exactly seven days. As a newspaper reporter, Rachel Keller (Naomi Watts) was naturally skeptical of the story, until four teenagers all met with mysterious deaths exactly one week after watching just such a tape. Allowing her investigative curiosity to get the better of her, Rachel tracks down the video·and watches it. Now, she must enlist the aid of her friend Noah (Martin Henderson) to save her life and the life of her son (David Dorfman). Together, they have just seven days to unravel the mystery of "The Ring."

I just got out of an advanced screening of this one. For those that know, it's a re-make of a japanese horror movie that came out in 1998 and that immediately made it onto world-wide charts of "Scarriest Movie Ever" and is enerally ranked 2nd or 3rd, next to The Excorcist.

I went in to this movie with a LOT of expectations and the movie surpassed ALL of the, (Even the one bad one that was obviously an "Insert Good American Familly Values Here" speech)

Anyone who likes good movie, not just horror, should go see this one. The end is totally out of this world.

(The original japanese one has a sequel (Ringu 2) a prequel (0 Ringu) an inbetween movie with doctors trying to decipher what kills people called Ring Virus that was also made into a manga movie, and there's a whole anime TV serries based on it. It's that good.)

I nominate the ring for best new horror movie since the excorcist. :) I've seen it 3 times and each time it's managed to freak the living shit out of me.

exorcist was scary just because it was a lil' girl ...

It would've been an adult everyone would have laughed at this movie ...

Freddie's da scary shit . When I was young I was very scared of falling asleep :(

But then I realised Freddie was living in another country , another town and on another street , so I was safe :)

It's a remake of the japanese movie "The Ring"... Stupid hollywood without any interesting original ideas...

Yeah, it's a remake of Ringu, but after watching the original, I ca honestly say that I wouldn't have gone to see the remake if I had seen the original first. The story is good in the original, but there are a few things I'm glad they took out and a lot that I'm glad they worked on more. For example, the dad (Noah *tii hii hii*) is suposed to be psychic and that's how they find out where the well is, from grabing the father's arm and "seeing" it in his mind, and the son is supposed to be semi-psychic because his dad was and that's why he was seeing more things than the mother. I found that to be incredibly corny, and also the father in the original is totally not a convincing actor compared to the remake.
