DJ Slip is one of my all-time favourite producers... the record he cut on Subvoice is incredible... that track is from a record that came out on Parotic in early 2001. It's a remastered version of an old acid track. |

It's Schumacher working under the name Elekrochemie LK... I found a mint test pressing of it for $1.99 a while back - with the one sheet and everything. I don't understand why people sell this stuff. |

No... The I-F/Beverly Hills 808303 stuff is probably about as close as I get, unfortunately. I didn't have all that much to choose from during my formative years in Winnipeg... and by the time I started hitting record stores in other cities I was mostly buying hardcore and digging up used techno records that I'd really been looking for.
I'm back in Winnipeg at the moment and spent last night going through stuff out here - pulled out a shit load of stuff that I'd nearly forgotten I had. Yum. Thanks for listening, btw - it looks like you might be the only one. |

actually, I didn't listen to your mixes till just now. half way through the acid mix - kick ass so far!
do people even know what acid is nowadays? you see all these turds go on about 'acid techno', like that mediocre smitten/liberator crap. that's not acid. it's not even fucking techno. anyway.. I'd like to see someone put together an acid event. I think one of the last ones in montreal was a party with rob acid, dj skull, acid junkies maybe? and that guy who ran bunker records back when it was on st-laurent. does anyone remember that? |

That's the joke... it's so wrong that it had to go in there. The last track, Metal Slug, is on a friend's label - and it's by a couple of guys I know from Holland... I was playing around with the two records and decided that they needed to hear it... it was such a bad idea that I had to run with it.
btw - Oakey = Phil Oakey of Human League fame... that track is 20 years old now... damn. Yeah - an all acid event would be nice. I'm playing an acid set tomorrow night... in Winnipeg, though. |

wooooooooooops. I assumed it was paul oakenfold. shows what I know. but then again, I'm too young to know about human league ; )
oh great, winnipeg. some help you are. but seriously, someone should look into an all-acid event, or at least a few djs that can lay down an old school acid set. none of this dave the dummer/geezer crap |

I saw Geezer play live in '99... he actually put together a good set. It was at that summer's Furthur... which owned. Of course, most things own when you've been drinking with Tommie Sunshine. |

Just finished listening to the Acid mix. Very smoking! I always get flashbacks of the good ol' warehouse days when I hear Shark Trax. An all acid party would be very cool. I'm gonna try laying something down, if I find room on the HD with all these mixes on there.
Cheers. |

fish: I think I caught geezer in TO a few years back at one of those giant crackhead festivals (WEMF). didn't like it one bit.. |

I think people bring a different game to Drop Bass shows than they do to Destiny ones. I think Geezer played shortly after DJ Scud on the first night, so there was a pretty heavy feeling in the room... and he continued in that vein.
A lot of the guys from the UK acid techno scene have been around for a long time and cut their teeth in the dirty, gritty acid scene of the early 90s. DDR and Julian Liberator even cut records for the Crapshoot label - which is probably one of the sickest labels the UK ever had (Total Output, Simon Underground, Traffik and DJ Freak were also part of the roster). |

I have heard a few DDR releases on hydraulix or cluster (not too sure) anyway, they were pretty decent.. but again, not as good as the older stuff you used to hear in parties more often
I've always wanted to check out a drop bass party. I saw a flyer for one of their events back when I was in detroit 3 yrs ago. haven't heard/seen anything in montreal though |

The majority of their events are in Wisconsin... although a couple of the Furthurs took place in Illinois... and they did on show in Winnipeg in '94 (bRave New Assembly - with JethroX, Woody McBride, Hyperactive, E-Tones, Jedidiah and a couple of others)... |
