Shyness

I used to be a very shy person, sometimes I still am. How do you get over being shy, or how would you suggest a person do that?
Personally I found that when I get over being shy it's almost always worth it, and makes life alot more enjoyable. |

It just happens usually. A person has to be around people they're comfortable with and generally they stop being shy real quick.
That or get them drunk off their ass. |

damn why do I keep posting things on the wrong boards :(
I guesse you could use drugs to get over shyness though |

drugs usually help me way more than alcohol, unless it's a lot of alcohol (like, 6 double pitchers at hatters)
but I'm generally WAY more social if I'm cracked on ephedrin or smoked some weed. |

getting over shyness is not an instant thing. i used to be mad shy but slowly over time i have been getting out of my shell. still at times i find myself talking quietly and getting red in the face but whatever. |

i dunno i was really shy too, but the more you talk, the more bitchy you are, not bitchy, but opinionated. so i dunno, ther'es nothign wrong with they nice, shy, quiet type either. |

I think the best way to get over shyness is to think about what lies past that obstacle. If you want it bad enough, nothing can stop you from getting to your goal. If you wanna talk to a girl (for example...) bad enough, forget the shyness and think of the good that can come out of it. |

i agree, being less shy now and talking more has gotten me the label of opinionated so lately i have tried to keep my mouth shut cause all it does is get me in trouble |

I don't know, I like opinionated people.. you've got to imagine the opposite. Like someone who cannot make up their own mind, or take initiative or make decisions. That just really pisses me off |

Hmmmm ... There's nothing bad at being shy . At least ppl won't take you for a violent person . Like , when some1 just breaks in and : HELLO , MY NAME IS ... it can scare some people , that's a kinda violence .
So ppl are gonna take you for a gentle lil' shy guy ! |

If I sit somewhere and don't talk, people get scared, and people who know me run away. |

i agree with amanda & megan, i think it's good to be opinionated too, as long as you can back up your arguments and not just talk for the sake of talking. if i believe what i say, i don't see anything wrong with saying it, and people don't have to agree with me. but sometimes being mysterious is interesting too.. i try to keep my mouth shut once in a while also, but i can't for too long :) meh, it's not who i am..
and chelsea, i'm the same, i never answer the door, and the ringer on my fone is always off. and even if there is a call for me, chances are i won't talk very long. |

i was shy b4 too
but now im in that "i dont give a flying fuck about what people think" stage if u like me for who i am, then thats superb if not, ur not worth my time n patience now people cant get me to shut up hehe i have alot of opinions about things too, but i dont like saying them to alot of people cuz theyre too stupid to argue with most of the time hehe im very stuborn with my opinions ill fight them to the ends of the earth until people see it my way..they dont have to believe it, but just see where im coming from |

I am still a shy guy(sometimes painfully shy). If i am attracted to a woman it is hard for me to go and talk with them. One on one is much better, but crowds are not my thing. Most of the time i have the option of "i don't care", but there are times when i care too much. Been working on trying to end the shy part of me. Still not sure if it is working or not?
