I just listened to Marko Fürstenberg's album on [ thinner.com ] and I was very impressed, recommend a full download of it...

He is one of my favorite producers from that net label but this release is far and above one of the best I have heard from there...

yay! ADMIN WAR!

and man, I dunno what Neil's been listening to, but like, almost all of the thinnerism stuff I've heard is like so dub it's not even worth trying to call it dub-something.

try telling the guyd from thinner that thier music is ambient and youll get flammed so hard from the responce that your eye brows will be singed through your monitor... seriously thinner is dance floor oriented music ....
why do you think they signed me and have mateo murphy, pheek, eloi, dick richards and the rest of the unsigned to force inc minimal techno camp signed to thinner from canada...
I dont know man I really think this is again a matter of defination... when noah and I talked about ambient/dub as a section what i was talking about was not to lump dub techno in with the ambient stuff but rather dub as an ambient genera as it is traditionally refered to in music theory thought. any how you want it in this forum leave it here but honestly youll get much more responce to your thread about thinner releases in the techno/house fourm... to each thier own I guess...

oh yeah so i was sying my definition of ambient and dub means no beats or barely audable beats and thinner releases have very audable beats... I mean if your gonna throw thinner releases in to ambient then you might as well throw that arial b info I posted in to techno into ambient... lets face it thinner relases are for the dance floor and not beatless there for dance floor oriented music is not ambient... so if you change your mind let me know and Ill throw it back into techno/house as Im sure the folks in ambient are not overly interested in thinner releases like the folks into techno or house...

Now, I may not be an expert on the subject, but isn't dub pretty much reggea without lyrics? How in the hell does music that is ALL about the beat get defined as "ambient"? Sure there may be ambient "weird" sounds and textures, but if it's not about that weed-influenced reggea beat, then it isn't dub.

don't have a shit fit, I never called their music ambiant.. Maybe I don't know what is meant by DUB in this section... their site even says "NETLABEL FOR DUB-INSPIRED ELECTRONIC MUSIC"... if you want to argue over semantics then whatever, I'm fine if you move it back into the house/techno section

it would be for the most part ignored...
also being a moderator like my self... how about messageing me private like and disscussing it with me that way rather then acting like some sort of animal tring to show thier red crest...

dub is not nessarly about a beat its about feeling and air dub was the first if the ambient musics...befor ambient was coined ambient...
dub is an attitude if you will and is not about the beat but about all the ambience that occurs around the beat the textures....
thats what dub is about...
the reggea beat means nothing and lee scratch perry, adrian sherwood and countless others has taken the time to show us that though countless great dub releases...
that did not focus on the beat...

ya dude when naw has a shit fit the skies will turn black and puss will ooze from every orifice of your fucking body, this is NOTHING.

i certainly think he's right on this one (it's all a big fat IMHO on the other hand) but in MHO anything with downbeats, 4/4, definite BPM is NOT ambient. it's dub tech, minimal tech... maurizio, basic channel, that's the originators of this sound, and you;ll find their records in the techno or minimal techno section always., sounds much like contemporary artists in the genre.

interesting though, is the fact that this is the type of beats that people no longer seem to release primarily on vinyl, but instead on CD, and now, with Thinner, on the net (i always wondered what was up with thinner, saw all their releases online and artist and shit, but NEVER saw a record in the store, i never got it.. NOW i understand)... doesnt make sense to me cause minimal tek, like any techno is for me a fucking joy to mix -though it maight not be AS rocking as Swedish or Detroit tek it still works on the dancefloor -Richie Hawtin's popularity, largely attained through his selection of minimal tech and largely dubby tek thru the late 90s (look at Consumed -there's NOTHING there, but he rocked that shit out for crowds of thousands) will attest to that.

anyways. ya. my two cents. thinner artists are predominantly minimal/dub tech.

also, neil, you dont have enough urls in your signature. i think you should add thinner also.
