I'm cusrious about EBM...I heard it stands for Electronic Body Music. You guys know any names of artists who fall into that category?
body music hehehe...I bet it's some sensual reference but it be funny if it was farts and such but electronicaly generated......actually no, it wouldn't be that funny... |

well if some people is complying because there is no cover before midnight....let's say you wont find any event or bar....with no cover before midnight.....this is because the production team as manage to do a deal with the manager of the bar...in order to provide a good and accessible night to montreal scene.....wich normaly always comply because cover are to expensive for event.....and well been a long time without a regular techno evening on a saturday night....and even more without cover.....and still !!! people are again complying and making bad critic !!!!
do your scene a favor !!! STOP ARGUING !!!! and even if you dont know the dj....WHAT THE FUCK !!!! everyone should start someday !!! so as it's [ free.....com ] juste one time....and see by your ears if you like or not....THEN MAKE YOUR CRITIC !!!! thanx.... if you want to do a positive critic of an event or something....you have to try it before....otherwise your critic is founded on nothing !!!!! thanx... and with bad critic found on nothing what will happen...the promoter will getting piss off of doing event for people who are only crying like kids... --- saturday just comme and see ! if you dont like it....ok fine ! never come again.... but if you like it...and i am sure you will do ! well...then i will accept any of your critic ! thanx |

most of the "EBM" i've heard is like a mixture of industrial and some sort of trance~
i dig it~ |

the newer stuff is really close to trance.. it's like darker trance with industrial-styled vocals |

fuucckk.... i think one of the DJs is one of my mates. I need to call him.
BTW, i know that a lot of goth-heads are really into EBM because it sounds like a cross between industrial and electronic music. |

That's what I always think when I hear EBM. I don't care what these pretentious punks want to call it, it's goth music plain and simple. |

Industrial is electronic music, it's been around a lot longer than the rave/club styles of today... I don't care what these pretentious punks want to call it, it's goth music plain and simple.
As for styles, you would have to define what goth is, which is kind of hard... Industrial music (whether or not EBM is industrial is debatable) is more of a extraverted style with political motifs and such, "goth" as in the rock style seems like more of an intraverted style that discusses human feelings and such... |

More than anything I find the sound of the music is what I'd qualify it as "goth" for. Everything is usually pretty dark and bleak sounding, and almost every goth that I know also loves EBM. It's the kind of stuff that gets played regularly at goth nights. It fits with industrial, it fits with goth rock, and it can even be sandwiched in with some metal once in a while. |

well I am just saying with genre there is a difference with industrial and goth, industrial is ussually more political, or at least used to be (skinny puppy sure was) |

Well, the sound of the music and the lyrical content are 2 seperate things. They could be singing about silicone and muffins and still have a sound thats "goth" or "industrial" or "rap" or "metal". What the songs are about isn't usually what defines the style of the music, it's the instruments, the beats, the tempo, the time signature, etc., that all factor into it. They can sing what they want to and it wouldn't affect the "sound" of it. |
