They're punishing the WRONG PEOPLE. Originally posted by -- G --...
and how are you people critizing the bus drivers, they have to sit in one spot all day, driving a bus back and forth, they're job sucks, let them get this pay, it's people like telemarketers that don't need to be making nice money. thats a really weak reason dude, i work 36 hours a week, plus school, my job consists of me standing (not sitting) in a booth, behind a cash, selling tickets for 8 hours. and i have to deal with shitloads of idiots who have nothing better to do than get mad at me cause the *think* i gave them the wrong change, then go to my boss and make up shit saying i was being rude and swearing at them. All this for a nice $7.5/hour, NOT $23/hour. Sounds fair eh? |

I don't think this will last long though seriously. Someone mentioned this already, but a lot of business' will prolly be losing money cuz ppl can't get around as easily. I think they'll prove their point in no time and we can go back to enjoying our mediocre bus system.
Did u know busdrivers in Austalia give you change. AND they always say hello. *sigh* |

Ian,,,a weakish answer with an even weaker one
dude your job is fucking heaven for me i work once maybe twice a week, but in those days i can range up to 30 hours... i've done it MAAANY a time...far too many i stand the entire time, i get NO breaks, and if i'm caught doing ANYTHING i'm not suppost to be doing i can easily get fired (already happened twice, for fucking dumbass reasons) i work at a hotel, bussboying, sometimes i'm alone handling 300 + plates,forks,knives,spoons,water/wine/champange/mixeddink/cocktail glasses...all together i get paid 8.30 try handling 900+ people with only two bussboys don't complain about your job |

They have a high risk job.
Not cause it's dangerous for them, cause it's dangerous for the rest of the ppl. Ever tried driving a bus loaded with ppl in traffic with pedestrians all over? It's a nerve racking job + realy is a high risk for accidents. responsability = money at some point. But they are pussies when it's gotten up to 23$ and they want more. |

ph, same goes for truckers.
But this isn't about the drivers. it's about the grease monkeys and janitors. |

first of all, if both you guys hate your jobs so much, quit them and get better ones.
unless you do something to change your working situation/conditions, you have no right to bitch. second, the union workers aren't taking their frustrations out on the general public. they're just using us to get what they want. the longer stm management holds out on negotiating with them, the longer we suffer. |
