I'd be up for some concerted attacks on the STM if this goes on any longer than a couple days. In one day break a whole bunch of bus stops, throw a few rocks through some windsheilds, light up some ciggies on the bus.
Lets apply the same aggressive tactics that these unions have traditionally used on their employers. LEts make a consumer union. They know that by putting the consumers' needs at stake it gets the pressure up and the results they want. But we all complain to the STM authority. Lets start hitting the cunts on their comfortable bus seats and breaking stink bombs right next to their little metro tea-booths. heheheh

That actually sounds like a great idea. Urban warfare at it's finest.

i dunno bout that, damaging the buses will just make one less bus they can use during rush hour, and lighting up on an already over crowded bus is just gonna piss off other people on the bus. not the drivers.

The point is to show them that their bullshit is not going to be tollerated, and that if they abuse their position in an essential service like that, people will not tolerate it. If no one does shit-all but complain, well, voice-mail boxes can be deleted with the press of a button. Envelopes and letters don't have to be opened and read to be thrown out.

Chaos, destruction, paranoia, those are words that get things done.

Project: Mayhem?

Anyone? :)

MONTREAL - Montrealers are struggling to get around Monday after 2,000 maintenance workers who keep the city's buses and subways running walked off the job.

Montreal commuters test locked subway door

It's the first transit strike in Montreal in 14 years.

However subways and buses will run during rush hours, Monday to Friday. It's part of an agreement with Quebec's Essential Services Council, which decides whether public service strikes will endanger public health and safety.

Buses and subways will run on Monday to Friday, between 5:30-9:00 a.m., 3:00-6:30 p.m. and 11:00 p.m.-1:00 a.m. There will be no weekend service, but service for passengers with disabilities will continue.

The transit corporation's executive director of planning and development, Robert Olivier, said negotiators from both sides worked until late Sunday night to try to avert the strike.

A last-minute condition concerning union pensions was the stumbling block, he said.

"They want to have more money, mainly concerning the pension plan," said Olivier.

Salary and pension issues are on the table. The transit corporation has offered a wage increase of 8.7 per cent over four years.

About 1,500 of the union's 2,000 workers earn about $23 per hour.

the strike was an unanimous vote fighting their level of raises
all other city workers got 11% raise
while they got 10.3%

for all the morons who don't understand, i'll say it in capital letters:
THIS HAS NOTHING TO WITH THE DRIVERS OR BOOTH WORKERS. THE BUS MAINTENANCE CREW IS ON STRIKE.

Pitching rocks at a bus won't do anything. Smoking in a bus won't do anything. Shouting at the guy in the metro booth won't do anything.
