| a sequencer is the only piece of hardware that i'm missing in order to start making tunes
have an opportunity to purchase a used yamaha rm1x if the price is right
what are you thoughts for those familiar with this machine or hardware sequencing in general? |

| It has a good reputation. |

| just have to wait till this dude gives me a price then |

| i have a korg m1 for sale. it has 8 sequencers on it instead of 1. |
|

| interesting |
|
Coolness: 127455
| 8 tracks or sequencers?
i'm reading up on it trying to understand "8 sequencers" |
|
Coolness: 106475
| Doesnt make sense at all... 8 track sequencer is more than possible. All that means tho is that u can make a song within your synth and maybe with another one provided u use the midi in and out... |

| pimp
it's [midi in and out] that i really care about at this point cause i got all this hardware junk lying around for years without a sequencer
i'll keep shopping around until i decide how much i want to spend and what my needs are |

| Sammy, i never knew you had Gear~
we live not too far from one another, we should make some interesting music or something. |

| the rm1x is pretty cool I'd get it if the price were low... But it's more of all-in-one system as far as I know... The best sequencer would be a computer with cubase or another program... |
|
Coolness: 127455
| i know the computer is probably my best option...
just trying to find an excuse to do something off the computer for once
yeh olee
you should probably let me watch you do your creative thing; help me with the learning curb of all this junk |
|
Coolness: 201910
| I dunno man.. electronic music will never get you OFF the computer.. you might want to pick up a guitar or something :D |
|
Coolness: 127455
| well i'm just trying to make it a hobby
all this stuff is just sitting around anyways |
|
Coolness: 106475
| I encourage "computerless" electronic music making. Well... it may be hard to escape the use of a comp nowadays but I encourage you to stay away from it as much as possible. |
|
Coolness: 127455
| i guess i'll never be doing it right until i do it the scotty p way |
|
Coolness: 201910
| I don't.. most of the big names have moved to computer based stuff..
If you want hardware though I heard the alesis seqs are good, apparently orbital uses them live or something... you can probably pick them up for a song.. It's called the MMT8.. It only does 8 tracks but you could buy another one... 8 tracks wouldn't really be enough though if you are doing sequencing |

| i agree
8 channels isnt enough.
especially if you don't want to use a computer. |
|
Coolness: 127455
| the rm1x has 16tracks
basically i got this rack sampler [tx16w], this synth [dx7], a crappy little drum pad i won't even bother mentioning and got a neat little analog 4 track
i do my cool little raps over everything. bs2000 and money mark styles
it's a humble setup: not trying to be hot new dubplate rmx producer of the year with a record deal and hoes by the truckload
i'm willing to invest some money into all this jazz and i think a sequencer would be a nice addition... maybe something expensive cause i always have extra cash lying around when i'm not giving it all to my parents
i'll probably just settle for a crappy roland mc50 or mt100 cause they sell that shit all over the place for less than 100$ |
|
Coolness: 201910
| the rm1x has a lot of onboard sounds and stuff.. it's kind of like a mc303 that doesn't suck.. so if you are doing rap or something it might be a good deal |

| just get a computer tied in with a box full of knobs and faders. |
