why does MS bother releasing preview builds, if the system is identical to XP? Do they think developers are going to start working on apps for it 3 years in advance and on a system that's not even close to being finished?

thats what they did for [ .NET ] and it worked out beautifully.

But LongHorn is very different from XP. Win2k was WinNT 5.0, WinXP was 5.1, WinLH is more like, WinNT 6, with a lot of changes to things like the GUI (3D GUI hmm?), NTFS, [ .NET ] and many other things.

I think the 3D GUI is the only thing I'm really interested in seeing. I'm still hoping one day we'll have full 3D computers that are easy to navigate, Lawnmower Man style. Hopefully this 'll be a step in the right direction, but probably 10 steps back in stability.

3D is so 80s.

there's no reason why 3D should be the future of computers.

i much prefered the massive wall screen computers they had in the Minority Report.
