well, i can tell you i wouldn't pass any of my code over to em unless it was open source.

What makes you think they'd alow something to remain open source once it's in their hands? If it has to interact with their "security features", then they'd have to add in Longhorn-specific code. Leaving it open source would then "leak" the security authentication needed for the software to run properly, which could then be integrated into viruses so that they "pass" as authentic apps. So now, not only will they be able to completely destroy their competition and get even more of a monopoly on PCs, but they've got an infinite source of software developers forced to cooperate with them to continue making a living.
