One of the most interesting things I have heard about psychedelics is their potential use to treat people addicted to hard drugs like coke and smack. I've heard about ayahuasca (called by its alternate name, yage, in the article below) used in therapy in Europe. And then I saw this article in Vice...

i dunno
i think a big part of addiction is the altering of your normal state of being
so trying to cure an addiction with something that basically is just the same thing won't do much.
maybe it'll help alleviate the withdrawl symtoms and then allow the person to quit after that.......
bah
whatever

yeh
I gotta a tape
of a CBC radio show
that explains this whole thing
how psychedelics can cure lots things
especially for native peoples
since it was their medicinces anyways
before they got fucked with a bottle of rum
etc etc.
dont want to get into the politics of it
anyways the dude who gave me the tape
participated in medicine ceremonies here in montreal
i am meeting with these people soon enough...
should be interesting

Some junkies are-have been treated with psychedelics to try to chill out on their addiction ..

Sometimes it works ..
Cuz when you get into a deep psychedelic experience its like your personnality dies for a couple hours ...leaving awareness only ..
And then you re-imprint your personnality out of the visions u had and you go on with something new ...

True, what Seb says makes some sense. But it is always up to the person absorbing the substance to make the decision wether or not to leave their personality behind and digging into their nature itself.

The substances sort of rewire your subconscious thoughts to the front. But you still have the capacity to have an active "personality" throughout the experience.

Yeah, but that time on the mountains left some permanent effects on me, though thankfully I'm down to only 2-3 halucinations a week, as opposed to the first 2-3 weeks after where I was seeing things 2-3 times an hour. Nothing too major, just something moving in the corner of my eye, a shift in colors, or letters all of a sudden not being letters in any language I know of...

Let's drop like 4-5 hits of acid a day then! It'll be a much healthier substitute!

I can make music on speed, but that's not something that I'm doing again for a while. I can make some cool stuff on weed, but I can't afford much. I play guitar a LOT better when I'm so drunk I can't stand.

damn, I need new guitar strings. I have to start playing again.

well I might like a nice cup of tea or coffee before a work session..

When I am drunk I just end up goofing off...

herb makes me play the piano really well though! Like in reefer madness!
