Ok so shit's going to be running even more smoothly now that I can do this from home....there will definetly be a second shipment of vinyl coming in later this week.
[DRUM & BASS] Hive - Neo/Gemini on Violence. Tune of the week, right here. The now notorious 'Neo' was originally slated for the Matrix Reloaded soundtrack, but must have been deemed too 'hard'. This tune is insane...you've definetly heard it already, either at Saphir or Blue Dog or on the internet, so I won't even bother describing it. Top notch production from one of the top american producers today. Dillinja & Lemon D - Killa-Hertz LP on Valve. These guys simply do not stop, this next LP has got strictly heavy dancefloor material, as if they ever make anything else. Definetly for fans of their sound, this 4-piece album reminds us all not to take this shit too seriously, and just have fun. Night Breed - The Theme/Bad Feeling on Frequency. Next up on Andy C's sublabel comes the return of Night Breed with 2 very different tunes. 'The Theme' really does it for me, in a RAM style too. Great vocal sample, heavy drop, and tight production. Definetly give this record a listen. Silent Witness & Break - Psychic Killer/Shadows on DNAudio. New label from DJ Ron, don't worry we won't sue you Ronnie for stealing our store name for your label. After recording a few singles for No U-Turn, Silent Witness & Break help launch DNAudio with a bang! Solid tech-y shit from these guys. Subwave - Dirty Dozen/The Visions on Tech Itch. Ok, so if you remember the last single on this label, you should already have decided whether or not to read this review. If you thought that Tech Itch/Dylan tune 'Legend' wasn't hard enough, then maybe you'll be ready for this....otherwise....lock your doors and hide. Crossfire - Darkstar/Stryker (Drumsound & Bassline Smith RMX) on Drop On Request. Another very solid 2nd release from the still young DOR label. While the a-side 'Darkstar' does stick to the typical Crossfire formula, the formula still works, and it's hot. The b-side brings in Technique bad-boys, and they give 'Stryker' the bizness, deep bass, tight drums....another monster. Digital - Gateman (Keaton RMX)/Get Loose on Phantom Audio LTD. For those who like their bass on the dubby side. Keaton takes Gateman and makes it ROLL. Using a tight rolling break as only he can, Keaton actually improves on what's already considered a bomb. The flip is actually quite impressive original material from the dub master. EZ-Rollers - Outtakes & Missing Breaks Vol.2 on Moving Shadow. While this is annoying, I've got to give it to Rob Playford. He knows how to sell records. The awesome 'Dust' remix by Concord Dawn is on here....so is the long forgotten 'RS2000' remix from Filibuster. Now for the bad news, the 2nd disc contains downtempo tunes 'Lady Jam' and 'Take it EZ'. Zinc - Faster LP on P Records. There's only one d&b tune on here, but I thought I'd mention it anyway: the vocal mix of 'Hear No Evil'. Kryptic Minds & Leon Switch - The Code/The Prophet on Defcom. Wow...that's ruff. Unknown Soldier - Wild/Eclipse on Invader. The Unknown Soldier doesn't really work, as everybody already knows this is Floyd Dice in disguise. For fans of the the "new" jump-up sound. Remarc - Sound Murderer LP on Planet-ì. Ok, so if you're into this shit then you're already on your way down to the shop. If you havn't heard, all of Remarc's classic tunes have been liscenced and put together on this 3-peice essential jungle gem. Amen Andrews - Vol.5 on Rephlex. More ragga jungle experiments form the man known as Amen Andrews, AKA Luke Vibert AKA Wagon Christ AKA Plug. Mad props to Aphex Twin for putting this shit out on his label. Tracklisting: London/Thinrider/Guilty. Believe it or not, there IS more stuff on the way... Peace. |
